How to make this ribbing?

I did the 1st round at the top (the contrasting color) in sc, then I did 2 rnds of alternating fpdc and bpdc. Mine doesn't look like this picture.

 

Maybe it should be more rnds with fp and bp sc instead of dc?

 

Can anyone help?

That looks more like sc in the blo done sideways.

I don't think the ribs look smooth enough going up the side of each "rib" to be rows of sc, but you could be right. I'll play with it some more & see how it turns out. I hope someone else comes along soon that is sure, because I have 2 boots ready now except for the ribbing.
