What is double/single yarn?

Hello all!

I recently received a pattern to make a dress.

The pattern says "work with a double yarn".

I am totally confused as to what this means. Later on it says use "sing yarn." I googled to see what these things mean but I keep getting different answers. Can anyone help me in this respect?

Although I would probably write to the Pattern Author, looking at the picture and taking into consideration that the Pattern Author's first language may not be "American" English,

If the "bra" section is where they are calling for double yarn, then I think it means two strands held together.

If you wrote to the author, you may want to be quite specfic in your question, i.e.,

"when you instruct "double yarn" do you mean two strands held together as you work.

Enjoy The Making

That's what I would take it to mean also. When it says to work with it double, use 2 strands at once. When it says to work with it single, use just 1 strand.
