Funky Fish - Please help to decide about it

MarinaLevy

Question

Hi guys, nice to meet you : the Funky Fish (the name is not final yet)

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-D9vWYmsZUow/T9eyVdaPZsI/AAAAAAAAASQ/y4Gt4yC1LzQ/s1600/Draft1.jpg

(I have some problems to upload my pictures)

I'm working on it for about 4 months.

Matching colors was always my weakest point.

Can you advise what color should I choose for the back flipper?

Should it be as same as the "skin" on the head?

Thank you in advance

So, this is the fish:

I'm still not sure about the tail/flipper. Something wrong, I feel some kind of dissonance... Maybe it is the shape, maybe the size, maybe, the color.

Also, should I add the upper and the sideways flippers?

I feel that the fish is already completed

What do you think? I would love to get your honest critique.

I just can find the right shape of dorsal fin.

Do you think that this shape is matching the "spirit" of the fish(funky and funny)?

Your help is required :)

This guy fits the bill in my opinion....

The Dorsal seems to change his attitude. The straight up one makes him appear more determined and aggressive, whereas the fin pointing backwards gives him a relaxed but speedy look, like rushing off to have some fun....

Oh I like this.. I love fish. I would love this pattern when it's available. If you need testers I would love to try it.

I like the fin placement in the second picture best..

He is adorable. I really like that you went with the head color. I'm not sure about adding the fins. There is already a lot going on with the body. Adding anything else might be too much. It's hard to say for sure though.

If this is going to be a pattern that you offer for sale, you can always include a pattern for fins with the stipulation that they are optional... just a thought. Speaking of patterns, if you need a tester I'm available! LOL

I understand exactly what you mean. Yellow is a great color to use to pop out. How about a tail in bright yellow crocheted shells or a yellow shell offset with a shell in another color you used? Another possibility is using a colorful variegated yarn that complements the colors you used.

Look at images of actual fish to help you get an idea such as an angel fish or a rainbow fish or even a clown fish. There are many colorful fish out there:lol

Thank you so much for the advices.

I've tried to figure it out:

Same color as a head

post-35955-135897763641_thumb.jpg

light blue

post-35955-135897763696_thumb.jpg

Same color as lips:

What do you think?

I want that the lips would be "special" and for the flipper I should choose another color

But with those blue colors, the fish is not colorful and "happy" enough

I can't decide...
