Good Morning.

 

I was awake a little after 5 and on the road to my daughter's home by 6:30. I arrived here about 8:15 and some of the first words out of my grandson were "I want eggs and chocolat milk for breakfast" so I made breakfast for him and his sister. Now we are just relaxing, not sure what the plans are for the rest of the day. 

I need to pm the January birthday ladies for addresses so I can put squares in the mail next week.

I'm so bummed. I lost my favorite tank top (yes, its warm enough for that! Ha!). I've looked EVERYWHERE for it, including places that don't make sense. We have a black hole that follows us around. I'm guessing it's claimed another victim.

Our black hole has swallowed up a watch, mancala bead (lost in the same location as the above watch), electronic key fob, iPod (though it showed back up a year later in a spot we searched FOUR times!), and my favorite tapestry needle (a long metal one)

 

These are things that went missing with no explanation. They're last known location was explicitly known and wasn't messed with. Extensive searching, and even moving from the house, didn't turn them up.

 

I did find my tank top though. It was under my bathroom sink. ??? All I can think is that the baby put it there. Toddlers.

 

I have several graphgan patterns that I want to make, but I've been too nervous to give it a try. I don't know anyone,in person, that is a more advanced crocheter than I, to walk me through it. Pineknott, do you know how to make a graphgan?

quickly   checking in, i have been been busy today, and bored today, from 0 to 100 in one day, lol

 

My daughter gave me two end tables they didn't use so have been moving things around a bit to find a place for the, ended up with one in the bedroom for now, other one, probably too, but too tired now to do it, lol when you move things about, things need to be vacuumed and dusted and stuff too, lol so one for today is quite enouh, lol looks good, fits better than my other night tables that are in here, makes the room look more open and larger, and, inside, a place to store little things, as it opens, they are octagon shaped, and the two doors on one side, open to reveal,  a hidey hole, lol my mom had these kind of tables when I was a kid, only bigger, and she always called the one that opened, a commode, i dunno why. lol and I remember playing hide and seek in them as a kid!!

 

ok, done there, tak\in a break, to help fix and eat din din soon, then i will find something else to do, im sure, lol, take care all, and thanks for the info cindy!!

Hi all. So Arnold at 55 and Meramec bottom road will most likely be closed down at midnight tonight and inaccessible for the next few days. We will be our own little island. Work is being rude about it but I will be darned if I'm getting stuck in St. Louis when I don't live there. And they are expecting me to show up tomorrow afternoon as well. All I have to say is if 55 is still shut down then I won't be there. Unless they get me a helicopter ride to and from work.

 

So I plan on working in baby's blanket and not stressing about it.

Hello all!!

  Finally revived enough to pop in and say hi!  I started coming down with a fibromyalgia flare-up Monday morning. It always hits me in my back and that is how I found out I had it.. After a couple of years going to 3 different doctors, x-rays, mri, and then finally saying nothing is wrong with you but here take these pills, I wound up going to a neurosurgeon who found it.. I was ready for back surgery so that I could live, but alas, there is no cure.. anyway, when it really flares up it is just like someone needing surgery. I can't hardly walk, bend over or do anything.. Pain finally started going away this morning (it never completely leaves, just is bearable) then the other side hit where I was so weak and trembly and chronic fatiqued I couldn't do anything!! Been in bed most of day. But it started getting better about 6:00 and so I have crocheted a couple of rounds on DIL's afghan I am making.

  Needless to say I have not been out of house 3 days so no news to share, except we are going to be looking for Noah's boat if the rain keeps up!! and it is still hot.... we had the GS's today, but DH just had to stay home and tend to them. I couldn't even.. bless their little hearts!!

    CAROL  I am glad you got your phone synced with car and YAY for the internet!! and how funny you drove 2 hours just to cook the grands breakfast!!   that's what we're here for I guess!!

    TRIBBLE  I have already packed up the china and put it away or I would be glad to send you a pic.. I think the kind of dishes you were describing is depression glass, My grandmother had it too and I loved it.. We live in such a small country little house and china is the last thing that I need, but I do love old dishes!!

      NIKKI I have family and some that do me that way too... hey can you make me __ and how much? and then gone!! our time is valuable too!!   well I think the lists thing with you and DH went well... we told our kids not to get us anything as we did not want to disappoint them. We have had a hard year with DH being laid off. the new business is steadily growing but slowly. We let them know we did NOT want to cut back on the grands so even though he and I said we were not getting each other anything, my DD says mama you've GOT to get him something,because he's getting you something.. The day before Christmas Eve I made a dash for the local boutique, because big towns are a drive from here and got him a Cypress Gear longsleeve t-shirt. He got me a gift certificate for another local boutique and 50 in cash... you know where the cash is going right?/

    CINDY  I am glad your DH's eye is getting better... and so glad your family is safe! That is weird about the flash of light... LOTS of people are talking about how during storms now you will see a flash of light (different from lightening) right before the storm... hhmmmmmmm.......

    KATYBUG!!!!      Bless your heart!!! What kind of surgery now??? You have really gotta take care of yourself!! I sure hope you get well soon!!!   

   YARNSCRAPPER   the Dr. Seuss ornaments sound darling!!! You asked about graphghans... I remember YEARS ago, I had only been crocheting a year,, I saw a pattern for a rooster on a white background.. This was one of those all different colored banty roosters...I thought hmm I could do that!!   Took me another year and I had to frog a lot of rows more than once, but I got er' done!!! Thing is you have to stay focused and for me, I use like a magnetic board under my pattern with a magnet on top just under each line I am working on so I don't lose my place..

   KATYALLEN  yes yes I have a couple of New Year "improvements" .. and I like that better too since I always break resolutions!! The first one is what I break every year, but I really need to lose 35 pounds. So much easier said than done. I also want to finally get my house organized somewhat this year.. and I want to do more things that make me happy this year...

   Thank you for the reminder on the squares.. I was just thinking today how I needed to check and see what kind of stash I have...

Well 55 is officially closed in both directions so I cannot go to work until it is safely opened. Guess they will have to figure something out without me.

I haven't attempted any yet, but I have grand plans you know... I know I'll never make it through a sc one- too many ends and too much boredom. I've seen them done as a c2c though (like this one ) and I think that's right up my alley... Less ends and they work up quickly. Anyway, Peanut is obsessed with Minions. I mean like full on freak out squealing and clapping when he sees them. So I want to make him a Minion c2c graph ghan for his birthday. I have until the middle of March so I'm going to get on that as soon as I finish a few of these current projects.

I'm of the opinion that jobs aren't worth risking your life for. I know that's not a popular opinion with the bosses, but it is what it is. You stay safe! That's the important thing!

I'm glad you're feeling better! Gift certificates and cash are always good gifts!! My dad gives gift cards and I told DH I always accept cash!  But he knows if he gives me cash, I'll come home with yarn,... Lol!

 

I spent the afternoon with Peanut today. Nothing super exciting, just snuggled up to me on the couch and patting my arm. He showed me his big boy bed he got for Christmas. It's got the cars from the Disney movie Cars all over it and he LOVES it. He even crawls up to the head of the bed and kisses the picture of Lightning McQueen. He tried to run out the front door after me when I left and Sister had to snatch him real quick before he got out. That didn't go over well, so I had to give him more kisses before I left. I told Sister, I'm his Auntie, I'm allowed to give in like that! 

 

Sister and Peanut are coming over tomorrow and we're going up to our cousin's house for dinner and New Years Eve festivities. He'll finally get to open his Christmas presents from them and i happen to know there's a huge Minion pillow involved so he'll have a good evening! Lol! 

 

I probably won't get back around tomorrow so I'll see you all next year!

Michelle, I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. My mother has fibromyalgia and it took the doctors forever to diagnose it, she has a few other medical issues too. Breakfast for the grandkids this morning was easier, they wanted donuts and milk.

I hope everyone who is in the way of rough weather is staying safe. Our weather has been warmer than usual.

 

I made fleece mermaid/merman tails for my grandkids and they love them. They really think it's fun to put their feet all the way down in the bottom and walk like penguins.

 

I've made some graph afghans. I don't have a picture of the first lighthouse one I made but here are pics of some others I've made

 

Any big plans for New Year's partying tonight? My party will consist of watching the Disney World fireworks on TV with my family. Tomorrow we are heading to Orlando for the day, we have lunch reservations at the Grand Floridian and then some shopping, no theme parks since our passes have expired but it will still be a fun day.

 

Today we are going to the craft stores to get supplies for my oldest daughter to finish the decorations, invitations, favors, etc. for my youngest daughter's baby shower. So today will be fun too.

pineknott this part of the state is ok. We had freezing rain sleet and snow Mon so I didn't get to see my friend from NC. Tues morning black ice was a problem. Main roads are clean now but the semi that rolled over is still in ditch.

Just got back from the zoo. Went to see the male polar bear one last time as he is moving to NC in a few days. He has been fun to watch the last 5 years. He is going to ne missed.

Hi all and Happy New Year's Eve! Just stopping by to check in and let you all know I'm ok. They let me out of the hospital yesterday. I have to see an ENT or my tonsils will probably just keep messing up That's what they told me anyway. Along with a couple other interesting things, like my tooth had apparently never abscessed, that was my tonsils then too. So much fun! But at least I'm home for my birthday and New Year's, so I'm happy

I am glad you are starting to feel better!  I am always tired and achy, so I know that anything like what you have would be zero fun!! I think you are correct about the depression glass, I couldn't remember the name for nothing LOL. Thanks. It is beautiful, but I try to steer clear from anything breakable! Well, maybe I will catch a picture next year of you china. I know I try to take pictures of everything, then I can't locate said pictures....

Happy New year everyone!! I hope your new years is great. I will be watching the ball drop here at work I hope the night is uneventful. I am in the process of getting my calendar and note/sketch journal together for the new year, my ritual on new years eve!

 

My goals for this year are the same as always:

1. Get in better shape/eat better

2. Buy nothing if it can't be used/worn

3. Do things as they need done - quite procrastinating (LOL)

4. Get the Book in shape (journal type) Goal is one-two pages a week

 

I am sure I will add more as I think of them

Happy New Year to everyone!!! Hope you had a safe & fun night last night... We went to Cheddars to eat, because everywhere else was a 2+ hour wait time unless we wanted fast food. I got a Maui Margarita and it was amazing. They brought some kind of little shot of liquor with it and I added that to my glass... By the time we left, I was super chatty, and had quite the buzz. My husband laughed and said, You need more? You're too much fun when you're drunk! haha. My reply? Nope! Because then I can't crochet when I get home..... So we spent out night in at home with the kids. Rosalie went to bed at around 11:15 or so. Connor, Michael, Tony (our 18 year old nephew who is staying with us to work with Rc over his winter break from College) and Rc played Minecraft on the computers, while I just sat back & worked on my c2c graph baby blanket I started yesterday. Almost done. I think.

 

For last month, I got 4 beautiful squares from Katie, so thank you so much Katie!! I love them!

Hi all. Happy New Year. Hope 2016 is better than last year was. Both sides of Hwy 55 are now open so we are no longer cut off from St Louis. Lol. Means I will be going in to work tonight but that's ok. Baby Jade will be here in the next 2 to. 2 1/2 months. I can't believe that she's almost here.
