Granny squares 2nd annual Happy Birthday Friendship/Comfortghan

Recommended Posts

That is amazing!!!! :manyheart  :manyheart  :manyheart  I get so bored on round ripples... Even before they get halfway big enough for a baby ghan! I love them so much but just don't have the focus required! I made 2. I think that's all I'll ever manage! Lol!

yeah, i hear that nikki, it was a long way around towards the end, but soooo worth it, lol

Love your. 8 point star too. Beautiful colors...

Thank you, I have all those colors in my bedroom, but some darker blue as well, which i didn't have when i made it, but it still works good in the room, and is very warm!!

Hello everyone!

Katie, the afghan is beautiful.

Yarn Monkey, it sounds like you had a fun time yesterday.

Owlvamp, I hope everyone is healthy soon

I posted a picture of the necklaces and bracelets here http://www.crochetville.com/community/topic/154001-necklaces-and-bracelets/

I hope the link works.

Not much happening today just a work day and some errands, I did get to the post office today to mail birthday puffies for March. I think I'm going to do a little sewing before calling it a night. Have a great night everyone!

Evening all! Fortunately the ice did help, and I was able to do all the yarning over the weekend that I wanted. Finished up two of my birthday squares; only one left now, but a lot of ends to weave in still. Bleah!

I love the pictures that everyone is sharing; they're always so inspirational. :manyheart

Heh, apparently I don't have a lot to say tonight! The time change and LV took a lot out of us yesterday and I haven't gotten it back yet.

Oh! That reminds me, there was one thing. @Tribble, our little guy definitely still does take a nap! Sometimes he's up early, but lately (last few months) we've been having to wake him in the morning; we have our bedtime battles but those of them that happen on no-nap days (rare!) are infinitely preferable to the all-the-time battles we have when he's missed his nap! It's not uncommon for one or both of us to take his naptime as an opportunity for our own naps, too... :D

Hello!

I spent yesterday crocheting and plan to do some more this afternoon, it's gloomy outside so crocheting and TV are the best thing to do :yes . I made 3 bracelets and 2 necklaces yesterday and plan to finish one more necklace today. i made terra cotta beads and worked them into the bracelets and necklaces so I can use them for essential oils. I'll try to get some pictures posted when I finish the one I'm working on. Have a great day!

Love those, that was an awesome idea for essential oils...

Two of my daughters are sick now. How wonderful. They will be going to the doctors tomorrow if I can get them in. So For me it's been in bed for 2 days now. I did finish up a afghan and back working on the midnight brite blanket. I need to finish it.

My family can't get it through their heads that they are not supposed to share their viruses ;) Share everything else, but keep the illnesses to themselves ;)

That is such a smart idea! I know several people who use essential oils for various reasons and those would be so helpful! Love them!

It got up to almost 70* today!!  :D It was so nice! DH and I went out for lunch and got my car washed and made a quick trip to Walmart for windshield wipers and a can of crescent roll dough so I could make dinner. I tried to come up with some sort of outdoor activity but everything I came up with was a park and being still winter everything is still brown and yuck. Oh well. Come on, Spring!!

Tomorrow is a typical Tuesday and I'm going to visit Sister and Peanut. Hopefully I'll get a good picture of him and his elephant! I kept forgetting yesterday.

Well, I'm off to get these squares from Katie bordered in white and attached to my ghan and then maybe finish up this seahorse for Peanut! I'm still tired from daylight savings, so I'll get in what I can before I head to bed. I slept 10 hours last night and it still wasn't enough!! Lol!

We've always had to wake Little Tribble up in the mornings, he's never been a morning guy (I wonder if it's because I work nights and did all through my pregnancy). Before Melatonin, we would put him to bed by 10 pm and every 10 minutes he'd come out because he needed a drink, or was hungry, or needed something fixed, or to ask a question. It was terrible. We fought every night that way for years. As long as he can move he can keep himself awake. And getting in trouble didn't work, it never has with him. Now that he loves minecraft, we threaten to take that away and usually that will keep him in line. Yep I love taking naps!

I was so happy to receive some beautiful! squares from Katyallen yesterday.  They are so pretty and I just love them with all the different colors.  They are perfect and they arrived the day after my birthday which was Sunday too it was extra perfect.

Thank you so much.  They are my first squares for the Birthday Bash ghan and I'm so excited.   The cats had fun checking them out too.

Forgot to say in my last post that I haven't been around due to some things I've been going through.   I had some symptoms for a few weeks and I ended up going to one of those after hour clinics last week to get checked out.  They didn't find anything and it seems to be a low blood sugar kind of thing so I just have to work on balancing blood sugar but it was a very rough ride and we also have to get my thyroid meds rebalanced.  I've spent quite a bit of time in bed over the last few weeks. The worst part was the few times I've woken up during the night and felt horribly sick.  I didn't realize that low blood sugar could make someone feel so sick.  It was pretty scary.

Today is the first day I've really been up for a while and it feels nice.

I hope that everyone is doing well.   Thank goodness that this winter is almost over.  That has been such a rough thing for us to go through too.  We have had temps in the 30s for the last few days and we are so thankful for that.  We still have huge piles of snow though.

post-41725-0-15162800-1426016594_thumb.jpg

There is the large amount of snow that we still pretty much have.  We will all be so excited to see the grass when we are finally able to see it.

Okay, enough complaints about the weather.

Take care everyone :)

Just as I finished posting my last post, my husband walked in with the mail and another puffy!

This puffy is from Brenda (bgs) and had 4 beautiful squares and a towel and towel holder and a card.   I love the colors and designs of the squares and even though I'm going to post pics below they don't do the squares justice.  They are so pretty and I love them all.

There is a funny story that I have regarding the towel holder.   More than 10 years ago I had a (dearly departed) friend who didn't have a car and I used to give her rides.   As a thank you, she made me towel with topper and then kept making them for me.  She made holiday ones and cat ones and I really loved them and used them all the time.   She passed away back in 2005 and my husband and I used them daily for years.  We noticed them starting to wear out and look old but we didn't have any others and I finally made a couple but I still had so many to do and haven't gotten to them.

Then I saw the one where you can exchange just the towel and thought of making it but hadn't made it and today in the mail comes one of those toppers where you just exchange the towel out.  It's perfect and I love it.

Thank you, Brenda, for the very special presents.

Tried to catch up a bit but haven't caught up all the way.  I've been missing for a while :)

I see some have not been feeling well, hope you feel better soon.   I know it's not fun.

Katie, thanks for the reminder about the batteries in the smoke detectors.   One other thing is to be careful with those used 9 volts that you take out.  I read that if two of those batteries touch each other the right way, they could start a fire so I started taping the ends with electrical tape before throwing them away.

Regarding batteries in general, we use mostly rechargeable batteries (only for AA and AAA) and I really like that.  We've been using them for years.  There is the up front cost but then you just charge them.  I hope it saves some money in the long run.   I usually charge some on my days off to make sure we always have some in stock.

I got behind on the Feb puffies so ladies, know that I plan to send you both a puffy.  It will just be late.   Hope to work on those this week.  I have the papers with the info regarding sizes etc written down and ready to go.   Will also work on getting March done.   I have been having fun with them.   :)

I guess that's all for now. Going to lay down for awhile. I don't want to over do it.  I've watched about 13 episodes of Grey's Anatomy in the last few days.  I started watching it on dvd from the library years ago and stopped so I started back at Season 1 on Netflix and now I'm on Season 2.  We are also watching Once Upon a Time together and we like to watch Andrew Wommack, a Christian preacher, on our Roku.   Love the Roku, we now have that, Netflix and an antennae and no cable cost at all.   Just the $8 for the Netflix.  We aren't big tv watchers though.

Tomorrow Im being escorted to lunch by daughter, who plans to be here in time for my birth time, at 12.08pm, lol we always celebrate her birth time on her birthday with a phonecall, or meeting up for it, so she is doing mine, cool, lol I always have known I am NOT a morning person, he he he......and we were both also born on a Thursday too, so we have far to go!! lol         what is that poem, gonna look for that, one sec,,,,,,,Here it is..

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child must work for a living,
But the child that's born on the Sabbath day,
Is fair and wise and good and gay.

Oh that was so nice of Brenda to send along those items for your donation! So sweet! I don't think anybody would blame you if the blue one wound up in your drawer somehow! They're lovely squares and I know you'll turn them into a beautiful afghan! I hope you have a fabulous lunch with your daughter tomorrow!  :manyheart  And also happy birthday a couple hours early!  :hug

I forgot to say! The yarn you used in the middle of my yellow square... I just dug that exact color out of my stash and was using it for Peanut's seahorse and a couple March squares! What a coincidence! Somebody is going to have a couple very coordinated squares from 2 different people!  :yes

I was born on a Wednesday... I don't think I'm too full of woe...  :reyes  Lol!

I got 5 beautiful squares from Brenda in the mail today and a sweet card!  :manyheart  I just love the monkey square and it's totally appropriate and will fit right in with my ghan!  :yes  It really wouldn't be yarn_monkey's ghan without a monkey square would it?? And I never even realized there was pattern for one! I have to ask where you found it because I think Peanut needs a monkey afghan! I'll get these all bordered and added to my ghan tonight!

I went to visit Sister and Peanut today and of course we made our trip to Target. Peanut fell asleep with his elephant on the way so I finally got a picture! Not the best picture of the elephant but it's really cute anyway!  :heart

I'm not really sure what I'll get into tomorrow, but I'm sure we'll come up with something! I'm determined to enjoy the nice weather we've got this week!!!

as for the yellow, must have been loops and threads impeccable, as I think i had been out of red heart yellow for some time now, lol but who know, using up balls, well maybe it was, I don't remember it much, lol

I pulled mine out of the stash with no wrapper, so I have no idea what it is either! Lol! Sister thinks Peanut is most angelic when he's sleeping too because he's started walking... and a couple days later, he started climbing. Now he's climbing everything... the couch, the tv stand, his highchair... anything he can halfway get up on. Poor Sister is a nervous wreck!  :help

Awwww! He's a cutie! Tell her ill trade for a bit; I'll watch over the climbing and she can have the general contrariness! ;) Oh we had a night. And I feel bad because I only wanted to work on rainbow tonight and now I feel growly(er) because I didn't have time for it. But I did finish my last March square, so I'm at two mailed, two packed up, and two to finish ends on. So I've got that done, and so tomorrow I can rainbow. Yup. That's it.

Sharby it's good to see you! I have a coworker with thyroid problems and she had a really rough time for a while. Hope you're on the upswing now! I need to message you for an address but I will do that when I feel less grumbly bear. :P
