Need advice on how to charge for a crochet item.

Recommended Posts

Here is the doll I just finished crocheting. This one is a present, but I will be making another one to sell. Either way, I need to price it for insurance purposes, since I'm mailing it to my niece.

I spent about $25 on materials for the doll, taking into consideration that I didn't use all the yarn that I had to purchase (they don't sell half skeins). It took me 3 months to finish.

I usually charge double the materials' cost for the finished item, if it;s not my own pattern (which this isn't). So I was thinking on valuing the doll at $50. That would also be what I charge for it when I make the second one and sell it. What do you think?

that sounds about right...my mom had a craft store years ago and she had dolls on consignment and they went for $50

I know a few people who would easily drop $50 for that.
