Slouchy hats on the rise

I love all the slouchy hats I have been seeing on here lately. I didn't even see them here until I finished two of my own.

I am not a hat person and never have worn one for much longer than an hour before. But I have worn one all day and I love it.

The first one is the "Easy Slouchy Hat" by hooks and loops.

The second one is the "Combination Summer Hat" by Strange Knits

I love slouchy hats! I started wearing the ones I crocheted to my youngest son's baseball games when he was still in high school. His girl friends all liked them so I made many for them too! Even though I'm in Florida, still love the slouchy hats. Some are too warm for our weather but a nice loose slouchy hat can be worn any time! They have been really popular here for the last 4-5 years, I guess. I have my favorite amount of slouch! LOL! Not too much but gotta have enough to pooch out a bit in back. If that makes any sense! One nice thing about slouchy hats .... they have been popular for so long, there are TONS of patterns available online for free! I bought a couple early on and they are still among my favorites though. The Galway Slouchy Beret and The weekender Slouchy Hat are my favorite "for sale" patterns. The Easy Slouchy Beret and Brooke's Slouchy Beret are my favorite freebies. These are all available on Ravelry. My favorite from a magazine is the Raspberry Beret from Crochet Today Sep/Oct 2009. Two favorite hat books are Heady Affairs by Shannon Mullett-Bowlsby and All Caps by the Crochet Dude. To see just how popular they are .... do a Ravelry search for slouchy and you will get so many hat patterns, you'll be amazed!
