Crochet on the Fashion Runway!

Crochet has made it to the runway! Actually, it's probably been there for a while, but I don't normally look at pictures from the runways.

It's too bad they had to call it macrame instead of recognizing it as crochet. I can't see myself wearing that, but it does look good on her!

It's using cord or string and doing a lot of knots to make different designs. Do you remember the 70's with all the long plant hangers, and owls made out of large cord and wooden beads? Also, friendship bracelets are a type of macrame. It has a kinda bad rep, because of all the "weird" stuff that was made in the 70's, but some of it is very pretty. My mother makes wonderful jewelry with it out of pearls, crystals, shells and stones. It's nothing like crochet, though.

 

How old is Naomi, now? It seems like she's around my age. (34) I sure have more to show than her. Not in the right places, mind you, but it's more.
