Winging it can be fun and it has it's drawbacks too. When its time to figure out what went wonky there's no pattern to refer to. My advice is to always keep notes of what you're doing.

That is gorgeous! I'd love to make something like that for myself. I love ponchos and capes so much better than a full coat. In Florida we don't usually need anything heavier than this and it is so nice to be able to just throw one of these on! I have a gray one very similar to this one without the hood, but it is not handmade. Yours is much nicer!
