Valentine’s Day Heart Wreath Door Hanger

Recommended Posts

This pattern is similar to my Shamrock Door hanger.

Make 14, stitch 2 together; stuff and sew each together to form a circle.

Size: Each heart shape is 10 cm /4 inches high.

Materials:

1 ball 50 gm red worsted weight yarn

Hook - Size 4.00 mm

Large-Eye Blunt Needle

Bows for center of each heart, or any embellishment you like.

GAUGE: not important. I tend to crochet tight, so gauge may vary.

Heart

ch 2.

Row 1: Work 2 sc in sc, ch1, turn.

Rows 2-13: 2 Sc into first sc, sc into each sc across until 1 sc remains, 2 sc into last sc, ch1, turn - 24 sts at end of Row 13.

Rows 14-15 Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.

LEFT "LOBE"

Row 16: Sc in each sc for 12 sc, ch 1, turn.

Row 17: Sc2tog, sc 8, sc2tog. Ch1, turn.

Row 18: Sc7, sc2tog. Ch1, turn.

Row 19: Sc2tog, sc until there are 2 sc rem, sc2tog, fasten off and weave in ends.

RIGHT "LOBE"

Starting in the next space from the last stitch worked on Row 16:

Row 16: sc into each sc for 12 sc, ch1, turn.

Row 17: Sc2tog, sc 8, sc2tog. Ch1, turn.

Row 18: Sc2tog, sc7, Ch1, turn.

Row 19: Sc2tog, sc until there are 2 sc rem, sc2tog, fasten off and weave in ends.

Make 13 more heart shapes, for 14 in total.

Finishing:

With one strand of yarn, sew 2 halves of the heart shape together. Fill with fibre fill before closing off. Fasten off. Repeat till you have all seven heart shape pieces. Join all hearts at the middle of each side of hearts till you have them in a circle. Sew embellishments to center of each heart. Make a small chain for hanging. You may want to add something to the back side to make it more “circular” like wire etc. I didn’t use anything, but it’s up to you.
