Mary Maxim Beachside Throw Need Help

Has anyone done this pattern? I'm new to crocheting and only got through the first row of instruction. Now I'm stuck. The first row is 38 3-dc blocks. Now I'm supposed to "ch 3, dc in first sc, (sc, ch 3, 3 dc) in each ch-3 sp across to turning ch" I get ch 3 and dc in first sc but the 2nd half - sc, ch 3, 3 dc in each ch-3 sp across leaves me stumped. Any ideas???

I have not doen the pattern but from what you posted I think I can help.

 

So, in row 1 you said you made dc blocks. I assume there are 3 chain stitches in between each dc block, correct? Now, in each "ch-3 sp" (chain 3 space), you will make the "(sc, ch 3, 3 dc)".

 

working into the chain space means that you will stitch over the chain-3 as a whole, not into each chain stitch.
