Looking for oven mitt help

Question

Hi everyone. I'm looking for a yarn suggestion and a pattern for oven mitts. They're for my girlfriend who does basically all of the cooking and sometimes gets a little to close :eek I would like to make her a pair that reaches to her elbows (yea it's that serious LOL) I want to make sure they protect her and can still grab things out of the oven. Thanks in advance.

Here are a few links for oven mitts...

You can always make them longer to the length you need. Worsted weight cotton is your best bet, acrylic would melt as would most other non-natural yarns.

I've seen recommendations for 100% wool and 100% cotton. But, as stated above, NO ACRYLIC, no polyester, no plastic of any kind. If these get too hot, they will MELT into the skin. Wool and cotton will not.

I do a lot of cooking and personally I like good heavy duty restaurant quality oven mitts as as I think they work better for for me. Mary
