This is a very simple pattern that can be finished in an hour or two. I used WW yarn, and a K hook, but you could use any yarn you have on hand, you would just need to adjust the beginning chain to get the right length. I used a larger than recommended hook to get a bulky look.

The stitch pattern would also work very well for a man's scarf.
