Water bottle cozy

I made this last week for a friend, but it came out too long for her liking. Plus the straps stretched so much that it hung below her knees!

 

I would like some advice about making better straps. I also just made one strap and pulled it through so she could hang over her shoulder. I crocheted a chain but it was way too stretchy!

To make the strap less stretchy ch the length desired then either sc or slst back along the chain. That will keep it from stretching some. If you wouldn't mind a wider strap you could also hdc or dc back along the chain. HTH
