Blankets of Belief

I was at my crochet group tonite when 1 of the libriaians came to me with a paper about blankets sent to troops spending the holiday in a war zone.. It is http://www.soldiersangels.org. The directions were for fleece or lined cotton/flannel. Since I'm in the midst of making 4 afghans for Christmas. I decided to go for the gold, and make another.

If any one has heard about this organization, could they let me know?

Yes -- they have groups that crochet too. I joined just recently but had to let them know it would be a few months before I started sending things as I am so behind here. I am going to make this my main charity crochet project! It is a wonderful organization. I checked them out thoroughly before joining.

 

The sewing team includes crochet and knitting projects.

I looked at the site but could not see anything about crochet. Will look at it again.

I have sponosored soldiers and donated crochet items to veterans through this group.

They are a good group to work with and your blankets will get to the troops and veterans!

Crochet Blankets are called "Blankets of Gratitude" they are given to VA hospitals.

 

Crochet blankets cannot go to the troops serving (blankets of Hope/ Blankets of Belief) or to the Combat hospitals because the open weave nature of crochet makes it a hazzard when dealing with medical equipment.

Thanks for the feed back. I just started an afghan this morning for them
