Section for Tunisian Crochet?

Recommended Posts

There have been many threads over the past three or four months regarding Tunisian crochet: finished projects, how to do Tunisian, what sizes of hooks, and on and on.

With a couple of published authors at Crochetville in the field as well, would it be possible to add Tunisian crochet to the "departments" where Beaded Crochet and the others currently reside?

If so, does a "gathering-up" process then follow, so that the threads now scattered far and wide but which all relate to Tunisian crochet are collected into the Tunisian crochet department/section?

Thank you!

Renewing this request, while noting that many members have posted messages recently like

--"Finished my Tunisian afghan"

--"Baby Tunisian blanket" (I think it was; might have been entrelac!)

--asking for help on Tunisian techniques

I also was in a "Tunisian Crochet in the Round" workshop today and talked up Crochetville a LOT, so some Tunisian crocheters *may* drop by, looking for a discussion section.

Here are the urls (since the lack of response to my previous posts may indicate that "hard data" are required) of the threads active this evening when I logged on:

--Corner start entrelac: http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=131387

--My first Tunisian project: http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=130103

--first Tunisian entrelac lap gan: http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=130789

--Corner start entrelac (2nd thread on same item?): http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=131000

This is a random selection, since these are the threads which happen to have seen "action" on Tuesday, August 23, between 6:45 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Pacific time.

Sorry, everyone, for the lack of response. This is the first time I've seen this thread.

We are happy to create new sections when there is an interest and when there are enough existing threads to justify the new section being created. It would look sad and only to have a special area for a topic with only three threads, you know.

Could I ask for some help with this? I would really appreciate it if people could search down some of the Tunisian threads and post links to them in this thread. Just be sure you're posting links that could be moed: for example, we won't want to move threads out of show and tell.

I may not be able to get this area created until after September 1, so there's plenty of time to go on a leisurely hunt for good threads for a Tunisian forum.

Why just Tunisian? Perhaps a forum on Specialty crochet divided into sections for Tunisian, Hairpin Lace, and others that require specialty tools other than a regular hook?

Just a thought...

Please look at the Crochetville video tutorials if there's no one teaching at a yarn shop in your "neighborhood": http://www.crochetville.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=368

Stitch Diva, at http://stitchdiva.com , also has video tutorials. I've taken two of her half-day workshops on Tunisian crochet, and they were FABULOUS.

C'ville also offers occasional on-line Tunisian crochet classes.

There are books available on Tunisian crochet, too, some written by authors who teach here at C'ville (e.g., Kim Guzman).

To management: Now, see, if there were a Tunisian Crochet section, we could put all this good informational stuff in a Sticky at the top of the section rather than having me type it for (I know for a fact) the second, maybe third, time randomly around Crochetville! :lol But kinda seriously, too....

Just spent some "quality time" with the Search function here at Crochetville and have gathered the titles and urls of threads which focus *primarily* on Tunisian crochet and have been active since I joined the forum earlier this year.

The total search returned 500 threads on 25 pages' worth of listings! But it 1) included threads which simply contain the word "Tunisian" without necessarily focusing on the subject and 2) went back to the founding of the forum, a much larger investment of time than I foresee having available in one chunk. Period. :lol

So, here are the recent, active threads on Tunisian crochet:

first tunisian entrelac lap gan http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=130789&highlight=Tunisian

My first tunisian project :) – DONE! http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=130103&highlight=Tunisian (but it’s in Show and Tell; maybe a pointer to the thread?)

baby tunisian entrelac blanket http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=131247&highlight=Tunisian (also in Show and Tell)

Has anyone used the flexible afghan hook? http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=119889&highlight=Tunisian (in Show and Tell, but there are no photos)

I think that's a great idea!

Sorry it's taken me so long to get around to this, but I have created the new forum for Tunisian crochet.

I'll spend some time moving threads over there today.

And feel free to get new ones started, too!

Clarification: I won't be moving threads from the Show-and-Tell or pattern areas of the forum as those threads need to stay where they are, as they are a better fit for those locations. I will just be moving threads from other areas that are general discussions of or questions about Tunisian.

I've gone through all the suggested threads and moved what I can to the Tunisian Crochet folder. There were only seven threads that could be moved, as everything else was in Show and Tell or in one of the pattern folders.

So, now that we have an area just for Tunisian discussion, I hope everyone will start populating it with new threads! :hook

Oh, and don't worry if you don't see immediate responses from Admin in the Suggestion Box area. We take all ideas and suggestions into consideration, and review this area from time to time. We have so many other things going on, that we usually aren't able to follow this area on a day to day basis. When you need or want us to respond quickly to something posted here, shoot us a Private Message.

One more thing: if anybody finds any more Tunisian threads outside of the Show-and-Tell and pattern areas, go ahead and post the links here so I can eventually get them moved over to the Tunisian section.

Remember, the threads need to be primarily about Tunisian, not just have Tunisian mentioned in them somewhere. :)
