Cocoon Size???

Question

Im making a cocoon for the first time with chunky yarn, the ones that have a hood, similar to this idea,

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Photography-Prop-Baby-Peanut-Hood-Cocoon-Swaddler-Blue-/290544640607?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a5cf625f

I bought a pattern from estsy and its look the right shape, BUT its measuring 21 inches around? Does that seem too big for an infant or a baby a couple month old? What are the usual measurements for an cocoon? My girls and 2 and 3 now and I can only seem to remeber them being teeny Lol. Any help or advice would be greatly appericiated. TIA

The pattern says that it is 16" around and 22" long with a lot of stretch. It uses worsted weight yarn instead of chunky, so that may be why yours is bigger around.
