Amount of thread needed for a doily

Does anyone know how to estimate how much thread the average doily will take based on the number of rounds? Sometimes a pattern will say but usually not.

Between 25 and 50g...

 

25 would be enough for most 12-14 round doiles, maybe as much as 20 (depends on the density, stitches, etc...)

 

50 is enough for up to 30 rounds, usually. (I'm talking about size 10 thread, btw).
