Our House Part Two

Recommended Posts

Here's a pic of "command central". It's a bedroom DH used to use as his home office when he was still working - the only quiet place with a door! I use his old desk, which is perfect for graphs, as you can see, and it's a room with lots of light.

What a whirlwind weekend. Dd is now on the train on her way home, and ive got my laundry going. Dd and jali stayed at dds house so my pldest and i got up early and went down to her house with bagels for breakfast. We spent about 3 1/2 hours with everyone before heading to the train station.

Got some major thunderstorms during the party, but at least the kids had a little pool time before thry started. And it was a good thing that dinner was pizza and not a barbecue. The kids had a blast inside and we improvised games and activities. Once everyone left, dd and i stayed till about 10:30. Had a wonderful time and cant believe how fast the time flew by

Next saturday i will be watching Charlie so dd and sil can take Ryan and Robbie to a nearby waterpark. Ryans actual birthday is the 24th so more fun and festivities are planned. Waterpark on saturday, followed by the annual borthday dinner at friendlys with the family.

Time to move the first load of laundry into the dryer and stRt the second.

Hugs to all!!!

Hi Ladies,

Joanne, It sounds like a busy weekend load with lots of fun. Glad your whole family could be together for Ryan's birthday celebration.

Judy, How scary to have a gas leak next door. At least your neighborhood didn't need to evacuate. Your graph afghan is going to be stunning.

Cindy, Hope you DS is enjoying his vacation in Canada. My DS has the kids and there are traveling across country this weekend to California. He picked up a load in Pennsylvania friday and has to deliver monday near San Fransico. They did get to spend friday night in there own beds. He moves cargo from place to place.

Mary, I'm sure the grandsons had a great time at your house. Enjoy some crocheting time.

LeeAnn, It's great the kids are keeping themselves busy. Enjoy your empty nest. It was something I had to get use to.

Today is DS's birthday. He is 41. I don't know where the years have gone. I know he's having his favorite, watermelon. One year he asked for a watermelon instead of a cake. Being a July birthday, I always had his party at the park. Easy set up and clean up.

I'm doing pretty good. Still tire easily and probably will for awhile. I went to the doctor thursday. He is sending me to another specialist. He works on the electronics of the heart. The rhythm medicine that I'm taking isn't made for long term use. He said your to young to be on it forever. If I was 80 they wouldn't worry about it. It's amiodarone. They use a wire and go through the groin to the heart and fix the spot that isn't firing right. There is a 90% chance that it takes well and I won't need that medicine any more. I was sent home with oxygen, but haven't needed it or used it. So they will be coming and picking it up. I go back to the doctor in two months. They will do an echocardiogram to see how much improvement my heart has made. From sunday the 3rd when I had the heart cath done to wednesday 6th when they did the echocardiogram I went from 25% up to between 35% to 40%. I'm hoping I make big improvements for my next echo.

Maya and I went and visited my cousins earlier in the week. My cousin lives in Tennessee and she isn't married. So she came up to stay with her mom and her brother to give him a break. My aunt has been falling. They think she has thyroid cancer but the doctor isn't sure. She will be checked again in 4 or 5 months.

After my doctor appt and hubbys appts we picked his mom up and took her out to dinner. She didn't look good. She has a hard time breathing and refuses to use oxygen. She's a stubborn lady.

I hope everyone has a good week coming up.

Hi Marlene - great to see you checking in. And it took me weeks to get my energy back after my 2 cath procedures and the stents. Excuse me for being nosy - but I hope you're following your diet. I'm backsliding on that a little lately - though I've been good for most of the 11 months since....

Just a little hook time on the JAYG....watching the news obsessively, otherwise. At least three more of our LEO family in Baton Rouge are gone :cry:grumpy

Good Monday morning, everyone. :)

Marlene ~ So glad to see your post!  When will you have the procedure with the wire?  Keeping fingers crossed that it works for you.  :hug   Happy belated birthday to your DS.  :)

Judy ~ Your work space is wonderful!  Having a door would be a necessity for me...Zoe, the Cat would just love to "help" you work at your table!  Thank you for the new avatar - it's a good reminder to keep our law enforcement folks in our thoughts and prayers. ♥♥♥♥♥

Joanne ~ Your weekend sounds fun, thunderstorms and all! ;)

I've got a bug of some kind, but it's better today than yesterday.  Thank goodness!  We have to go to the store for a few things, otherwise I wouldn't leave the house today.

I can only imagine the games with a room as big as this one and yarn all over the place! Thank you for the new avatar - it's a good reminder to keep our law enforcement folks in our thoughts and prayers. ♥♥♥♥♥The heaviness we feel is beyond describing. It doesn't seem like this will ever end. DH was a cop in NYC in the early 70's when cops were being assassinated  like this. The force lost 11 in one year. :cry Our Thin Blue Line flag will stay at the front of our house forever....

The kiddies leave you a present?? When we're not around little ones too much it's so easy to catch germs. We need regular kiddie booster shots!

I spent a bit of time on Mr.Eagle yesterday but much of it was on weaving in ends, before I completed another two rows.

Good morning. It's back to hot, humid weather here.

It was another super busy day at work yesterday. When I got home Dh told me that DD had just called and wanted us to go look at a house with them. Their current house is only 7 years old and it's on a fair size lot, but they really want a bigger lot and more space for entertaining. This was their second look at this particular house. It's on a wooded acre and is in a really attractive neighborhood. The minute we turned onto the street, dh was impressed. The house has been sitting empty for quite a while, and had been occupied by an elderly man. It looks a bit neglected, and everything is dusty, but it seems like it would be a great fit for them. It has a lot of new flooring though and quite a bit of fresh paint. It also has a gorgeous master suite that is a recent addition. When we left, they were talking about submitting an offer. The real estate market here is booming, and many homes sell in a matter of hours. This one has been on the market for several weeks though.

I'm planning to do more decluttering in the basement today. I should make a trip to goodwill to get rid of what I've decluttered as well.

Marlene, it sounds to me like you will be having an ablation. A couple of my co-workers have had one.

Have a good day, ladies.

Cindy, I hope DD gets the house! It's so hard to know what offer to make when a house needs some work.

Hi all

Cindy. Good luck to your DD oth the house offer!!!

Marlene. I thought the same thing as Cindy and sounds like you will be having an ablation. Positive thoughts for you!!!!

Judy. Love the craft space you have.

Mary. Hope you are over the bug you caught

Leeann. Great shawl. Your kiddos really sound like they are having a productive summer.

Started the knitted blanket for Charlie. I really should also start the afghan for my niece, but i figure I'll work on the knitted blanket for a few more days to make some headway on it before pulling out the hook.

The church around the corner has their annual carnival that started tonight and runs through saturday. Its a lovely evening weather wise, so I'm sure they will have a good crowd and my street will be full of people and cars. Lol

Have a good night!

Hello house!

I'm still living... I've just been busy with one thing after another and it did take a while to get myself back together. I am battling more health problems now with my teeth, but don't want to go into now. I have been reading the past hour and a half catching up...

MARLENE... I am so glad you are okay!!! Please take care of yourself.

I loved seeing all the afghans and blankets, and I even saw where teakaycee popped back in.. :)

It's pretty late now, so I'm just saying I haven't forgotten ya'll and letting you know I'm still here..

 will catch up more later!

Good morning. I've been awake since 4:30. I am going to be dragging by dinner time!

It looks like DD and dsil have a new house. They have an accepted offer, pending a home inspection. I hope this works out because this is a great house for them, and it keeps them in the same area, but in a much more attractive neighborhood. They like that area, and currently housing prices are a bit lower there than in our end of the city. They are a little nervous about taking on debt, since their current home is nearly paid for, and this is a much more expensive house, but they still say they can pay it off in 6 or 7 years.

No big plans for today. I'm meeting a friend for shopping and lunch today, and I have cleaning to do. (So what else is new!, how can 2 people make so much work?). I never actually did any decluttering yesterday. Maybe some of that will happen today.

Have a great day, ladies.

Hi House!  I left at 8 to run errands - it's supposed to be over 100* today and I wanted to be home before that happens!

Hi Michelle!  It's so good to see your post. :manyheart   Come back soon!

Joanne ~ Sorry if I missed this...what color and pattern will Charlie's blanket be?  You've made so many lovely things lately!

Cindy ~ The kid's new house sounds great!  It seems we both have children buying houses before selling their current one. :lol   I would love to buy DD's house, but we can't afford it!  In less than a week, they've had 2 repeat "lookers."  You just never know when that right person will come along.

Judy ~ Are you tired of weaving in ends yet? ;)   I'm plugging along on the vintage stripes.  I wasn't happy with my color scheme, so I looked at google images and found a picture that used 5 colors...4 of which were in mine!  So I frogged 8 rows and substituted a blue for gray and am much happier.

Better get busy!  Have a good afternoon, everyone. :manyheart

Hi, Michelle! Glad you checked in!!! Take care of yourself. :hug

Joanne, ugh - with a carnival so close, I hope you get through it ok.  A nuisance for some, fun for others....

Good morning. I've been awake since 4:30. I am going to be dragging by dinner time! I know that feeling...Lucy starts waking me up about 4:30...then after a trip out, she goes back to sleep....but I can't :P No work today, though - right?

Our pups are the reason for most of the cleaning going on here :lol Wiping down walls from the slower that flies when they shake their heads (mostly Sparkie) and of the course, the ever present fur bunnies....

And I never get annoyed at weaving in ends, Mary - just annoyed that's it's taking time away from really crocheting. I finished 31/150  yesterday.

Thanks for the compliments on my craft area - being on the second floor the light is there all day. The window faces SE, so gets the light all day.

Have a good day, my friends,

Hi Christi!  So glad to see you pop in! :manyheart

Judy ~ Oh dear, your humidity must be horrible if the heat index is that high!  Try to stay cool. :yes   I agree about weaving in ends...it's so much more fun to see progress!

Our whole area lost uverse yesterday due to a utility company cutting a major cable.  No phone, internet or tv from about 1 to 9 last night. We listened to the radio for some noise and thank goodness for our cell phones!  It could have been worse - if it had been the power going out, we would have been in a hotel with Gracie and Zoe. ;)

Hi to the rest of the House, too. :)

Usual chores this morning and then some crochet time!

Morning ladies. Super hot and humid here.

It's the 6 year old grandsons birthday visit today. We picked him up at 8:15 and so far we've been out to breakfast, gone to the playground, played with his birthday gift, painted a sun catcher and now we are making a puzzle. It's only 11:30! Short attention span here!

Anyhow, back to the puzzle!

Wow, yes, good thing it wasn't the electric that went out! We would end up at a friend's house if we had no AC - like after super storm Sandy, when the final straw was a coating of heavy wet snow two days before we got the power back on.

Morning ladies. Super hot and humid here.We are all in the same boat it looks like! I don't know how pioneer women survived!

Joanne ~ Happy Friday to you!  I hope your day at work goes by quickly. :)

Cindy ~ Did you survive the rest of yesterday? :D

Hi Judy!

DH has the first of 12 weekly in office treatments today.  It uses nerve stimulation to try and fix his bladder issues...fun, fun. :no   We set up the schedule for the other 11 visits today.  I will have my crochet tote with me!  DD has asked for more face scrubbies.  They're so quick and easy, so I'll take some cotton yarn today. :)

See you later. :manyheart

Good morning. More heat and humidity in store for us, and for several days to come.

As for yesterday, DGS had lots of fun, and so did Grandma...but this grandma was exhausted by the end of the day! Between supervising art projects, playing outside, losing at games.....I finally resorted to a video! I didn't sleep well the night before either. After we dropped him off, we visited mil, and got groceries. By the time we got home, it was nearly 10 PM. I put groceries away and went to bed. I was awake at 8:30 by a phone call offering me a great deal on something. (I hung up before the caller got that far.)

While I was shopping with a friend on Wednesday, I went into our local yarn store and asked if they gave knitting lessons. They offer both group and private lessons. Private lessons are $25 for an hour and a half, which I thought was a pretty good rate. I haven't scheduled anything yet, but I plan to schedule a lesson to learn to knit in the round. They suggested the magic loop method. I've watched a few YouTube videos and it looks much easier than the many needles method. In theory, I know how to knit in the round, in actual fact it doesn't work out that way. Things start out well, but pretty soon, needles and stitches are dropping like flies!

Mary those weekly dr visits sound like a lot of work. I hope they help Dh, which would make it worth it.

I may vacuum today...I might not. I have to work this weekend and I'm inclined to spend the day sewing, or reading or crocheting, or some combination of them.

Have a great day, ladies.
