Our House Part Two

Good morning peeps.

Just a quick flyby to say we are home and had a lovely time. Back to unpacking and laundry.....

Darn....chores already! We missed you here, but I loved the pics of your vacation view that you posted on FB!

Judy, enjoy your visit with your brother!!! It's been fun catching up. Today is the boardwalk stroll. None of us are not the heat too much, so it won't be a long one. Just yearning for sight and sound of the surf!

Cindy, welcome back to reality. I loved the pics of your view from the camper you posted in FB!!!

Going To start another large granny. Only have 16 rows left to do on the knit baby blanket, but Im in a hooking mood tonight . :-)

Mindless hooking is such fun!

Hi House. :)

Judy ~ I remember the picture of you and your brother.  I think it's so nice that he's enjoying time with family on his motorcycle trips! He always was one to  think outside the box: the way he has embraced being single again at this point in his life, buying the motorcycle, traveling...I think he and I share a mindset that has a bit of an edge to it - though mine has been gently held in check by a husband who thinks in a linear fashion and was born with common sense :lol  :lol

Cindy ~ Welcome back!  Can't wait to hear more about your camping trip. :yes

Joanne ~ Way to go on your crocheting and knitting projects!

We ran errands today and took a tour of DD's and Sil's new neighborhood.  They purchased a lot on the Trinity River in Fort Worth not far from their current neighborhood.  It is a small gated community with only 37 lots and it's just gorgeous.  They decided to leave their wonderful "antique" home for a new house better suited to raise the boys in. Just from "word of mouth" they already have interested buyers, so it looks like they will be leasing an apartment before long.  I see more of Luke and Zach staying with us in the next few months. :lol

Have a good night, everyone. :manyheart

I hope the new house is still close enough to you! Sounds like it will take a while for the house to be built. They really need a place with no projects and a lot of room at this point in their lives.

I did work on the baby graph ghan yesterday while waiting for my brother to get here. I'm at about row 51/112 or so.

Have a great day my friends!

Good morning. Looks like it's going to be a lovely day.

I'm a bit sorry to be back to real life. It was nice having nothing much to do for 6 days. Listening to the waves crash on the shore at night and seeing the lake all day...well that was icing on the cake. We spent a fair bit of time just hanging out by the lake. I managed to read 10 books. The second night that we were there, we met up with DD and a couple of her friends for dinner. They were renting a cottage about 40 miles away, but they had been to Mackinac Island for the day,mso they were only a few miles from us when they got back to the mainland.

But it wasn't all sitting around. We visited Tahquamenon Falls, Whitefish Point and the locks in Sault St. Marie. At the locks we were standing in the observation area watching a freighter move through, when the woman next to me said "Excuse me, but I believe that I know you." Turns out she used to be the hygienist at my dentists office. She retired 5 or 6 years ago and I still miss her. She was the gentlest teeth cleaner that I ever met. It's a small world sometimes! It turns out that her hubby is really into ships, and locks. They have even travelled to the Panama Canal to "ship-watch", so we told them about the lift locks in Peterborough, Ontario. Those are very different. Rather than changing water levels in a lock, the entire lock rises on a hydraulic lift abd lets the vessel out when it gets to the higher water level. We've been through that lock a number of times with my parents. (They had a summer place near there.). It would certainly be a cheaper trip than the Panama Canal!

We also visited Mill Creek State Historic Park, which was the site of the first water powered lumber mill in the northern part of the US. They have a replica of that mill on site and a 45 minute presentation on its workings. The narrator did a great job. He was very knowledgable and really got the kids in the audience engaged and interested in history. Dh videotaped it for our grandsons, but I'd love to take them there someday. I think that they would enjoy the Soo Locks too.

I was hoping to go to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, but it got really windy and Dh doesn't care to cross the Mavkinac Bridge in high winds. The bridge is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world, it's 5 mikes long.

Mary, DD abd dsil will have their hands full, building a house, moving twice and bringing up three boys. Still, they are young and energetic!

Judy, have fun on the boardwalk.

Joanne, I saw Jali's pictures on Facebok. What a little doll!

Marlene, enjoy your time with Maya.

I'd best get moving. I finished most of the camper laundry last night, but I want to give the camper a good cleaning before it gets hot outside.

Hi Ladies,

Mary, How exciting for DD and SIL, building a new house. Hope your ankle is mending well.

Judy, Enjoy your visit with your brother.

Cindy, Welcome back from vacation. Sometimes it is a small world. Your vacation sounds like a nice relaxing time. I don't like going across the mackinaw bridge even if it isn't windy.

Joanne, Will your new granny be scrapes or certain colors?

Hubby had a doctors appt monday morning and I still wasn't feeling well, but we went. I took a motion sickness pill and it helped. We have decided are doctor is working for us and I will be looking for a new one again. There are lots of doctors in the medical building we go to so I got there names and will be doing my homework checking each one out. I guess she thinks her patients are asking or expecting to much if you think she should follow up with you when she sends you out to see a specialist. She won't do it and told us so. I've never had a doctor like that before. She is the first female family doctor we have had so I think we will go back to a male doctor. When hubby had a VA doctor appt she (the doctor) asked if we see someone else outside of the VA. We said yes. She asked who. I said I would have to look her name up and spell it to her. She knew who I was talking about. She doctors there to. She rolled her eyes. We questioned why and before she answered us we shared are concerns about her and thanked her for caring and giving her patients the time it takes to take care of there needs. She said she don't like her, but her husband does so she stays there. She just don't see her, she sees the nurse practitioner. The doctor we seen monday said if we didn't like the way she is doing things we can find a new doctor. On we will go.

Maya had a dentist appt yesterday afternoon so we went to DD's monday afternoon. Yesterday DD got up sick, SIL came home from work sick. So we spent last night just in case they weren't better today. I hope Gerimiah don't get it again. DD found out everyone at daycare was sick last week to.

Maya had library this morning so we left her house nice and early this morning. They learned some yoga today.

Hope everyone has a good week!

Good afternoon House!

I have been gone for so long, life sure has a way of keeping me on my toes.  I keep telling myself to slow down..but then either my family needs me or I have things to take care of business wise.  Not that I am not enjoying it all but some days I would like to just relax without worrying about what I should be doing.

Quick fly by to tell you all hello!  Will be back soon, hugs!

Good morning. I spent six hours cleaning out the camper yesterday. Dh "cleaned" it before we went, since I didn't have time, but it was really more of a "lick and a promise". (That's what my mom called the surface cleaning that made things look presentable.) It was passable, but definitely needed more work. Plus I wanted to be sure any lingering food smells did not attract unwanted visitors. I was really tired after that. We went to DDs for dinner so at least I didn't have to cook. Despite the busy day, I didn't sleep well.

Today I plan to do some housework and go out to lunch with friends. The restaurant is only 5 minutes away, but I assume lunch will occupy a couple of hours. I am having DH's family here for lunch on Saturday. DH's sister and her family are coming to town for a graduation open house and she wanted to visit with her brothers while she was here. Tonight I will shop for that. I'm making it simple as we want to go to a graduation open house as well. I'm thinking cold cut platters, rolls, fresh fruit, chips, tossed salad, raw veggies and cookies. I sure hope the weather co-operates.

Hi peeps!

My brother is at the next relative  - a cousin here in NJ who lives 2 hours south of us. It's great seeing him, but I was exhausted - missed my routine, too. And hook time. I think I really am officially old....

Good morning. Looks like it's going to be a lovely day.

Mary, DD abd dsil will have their hands full, building a house, moving twice and bringing up three boys. Still, they are young and energetic!

Judy, have fun on the boardwalk. It was hot and sunny - might have stayed a while if it wasn't so hot, but we got our "wave" fix!

Joanne, I saw Jali's pictures on Facebok. What a little doll!

Marlene, enjoy your time with Maya.

I'd best get moving. I finished most of the camper laundry last night, but I want to give the camper a good cleaning before it gets hot outside.

LeeAnn - lots of us resort to flybys when life gets busy! Take time for you, too!

Hi, Marlene!

Mary, I hope all is well.

Here's a pic of me and my goddaughter, Alyson - she was a bridesmaid at her bother's wedding.

Good morning it's cool out at the moment but it's supposed to get up near 90 today. My to do list includes the never ending housework and some food prep for tomorrow's lunch party. I baked cookies yesterday and I did the shopping last night.

Judy, thats a great picture of you and Alyson.

I have zero crafting ambition at the moment. Hopefully that means I'm going to get lots of other things done!

Good Morning, House. :)   I can't believe it's already Friday!

Judy ~ The picture is wonderful...two beautiful girls! :manyheart   You've already made great progress on the graph 'ghan!  Your vet will be so surprised and thrilled.

Cindy ~ I loved reading about your vacation.  You all saw a lot of things, but still had time to relax...a true vacation!  Your lunch plans for tomorrow sound perfect. :yes

Marlene ~ I hope you and your family are all better now. :hug   I agree with you about changing doctors!  We definitely need to like and trust them.  Our primary dr. is probably going to retire soon and hopefully it won't be too hard to find someone we feel as comfortable with.  Thank you for asking about my ankle - it's much better, but still hurts just a bit.  I need to stay away from flip flops for a while. ;)

LeeAnn ~ Hi!  You sound super busy!  Will you be able to take a break this summer?  How are the kids doing with their jobs?

Joanne ~ What colors are you using for the new granny?  I hope you have a good weekend. :yes

DH had three appointments this week and I'm happy to be staying home today.  This heat makes everything just a little bit harder...thank goodness for a.c.!  Have a good day, everyone. ♥♥♥

Hi Ladies,

Judy, Beautiful picture of you and Alyson.

Cindy, Your luncheon sounds perfect and the weather is going to cooperate for you.

Mary, Glad your ankle is healing. Maya's mom, dad and I are still not 100%. But I am a lot better than them. I get a lot nausea.

LeeAnn, Life keeps us busy. Flyins are welcomed.

Joanne, Will you see all four grandson this weekend?

Maya has been down to the neighbors swimming all afternoon. She stopped for dinner and went right back. She will sleep well tonight. She is older than the kids she is playing with. They all love her. They watch the porch for her to come outside. When she does they all (about four usually) start yelling Maya, Maya. The new neighbors won't forget her name.

Have you guys seen the cupcake blanket on Moogly's? It is really cute. I was on her site today. You have to go back a few pages. She did it as a mini cal. After I make this second horse scarf I want to make it. I don't have any one in mind yet to gift it to. But my nephew and his girlfriend are pregnant so maybe they will have a girl.

I seen on Facebook a friend I went to school with has cancer. We go back to third grade when I moved into the neighborhood. She her hubby, and there family live in Tennessee. She's going to start chemo this week then will have surgery.

Hoping everyone has a great weekend!

I don't know how they survived, but I've disliked Texas since I arrived in junior high! :lol

Marlene ~ Oh, I'm so sorry the virus has taken so long to go away. :hug   Just seeing Maya's happy smile in pictures, I can tell she is a sweetie and will always be able to make friends. ♥  I need to check out Moogley's blog...I have it bookmarked!  Sending prayers to your friend in Tennessee. :hug

Happy saturday afternoon!!! It is GORGEOUS outside here today. Ive been out on the deck doing some crocheting. Just stopped inside to grab some water and figured I'd stop in and say hi!

Last night dd and the boys and I went to a carnival at a church by her house. R&R had fun on the rides and Charlie enjoyed having lots of things to look at! It was a little pricey, so we had dessert at her house. We let the boys make their own ice cream sundaes!! Fun time!

Back to the deck i go, it is just so nice out!!!!

Hi friends. :)

Joanne ~ Crocheting on the deck sounds lovely!  I'm glad you're having some time with your hook. :yes

A quiet day around here.  The usual laundry and cleaning and I started another cowl for Sue - she loves them and made a request for another one for fall.  She's obviously better at thinking ahead than I am. :lol  We're staying with the boys tomorrow afternoon while DD and SIL spend time with their builder.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!  :manyheart

morning peeps!

Well, my graph portion of the baby ghan is finished. DH gave me some ideas - again - and I did my best to step up to the plate...lol!

I'll post a pic when finished. There's more length to add to the body of the ghan, then a border to decide on. It's cute.

Next in line is the second graph ghan for my friend. She decided on a close up image of a bald eagle head and neck. I bought and downloaded the pattern from the designer already...don't want that sudden, "what am I going to do next" feeling!

The sun is shining and we're going to do our usual things this morning after I water the plants and back yard.

Hi to Cindy, Marlene and everyone!! Enjoy the day!

Hi House. :)

Judy ~ I can't wait to see the baby girl graph 'ghan!!  One of these days, I need to get your advice and will make one!  Do you think Zoe, the "yarn loving cat" would allow me to work on one? ;)

DD and SIL made their rough draft of their house plans with the builder today and they are very excited!  They are planning on this being their "forever" home and it will be gorgeous.  Luke and Zach were happy campers while we stayed with them. :c9  They are both into Legos full time and DH and I can hardly see some of those little pieces. Lol

I hope everyone has had a good weekend!♥♥♥

Mary, my advice on making your first graph: start small! There are lots of patterns where you can make graph designs in a square and either alternate different designs or insert plain squares interspersed with the designs. I'd love to drag someone over to the dark side with me :rofl  :rofl  :rofl

Good morning. It's a beautiful morning here. I'm sitting out on the front porch with my coffee. I've got laundry going already. Tomorrow it's back to work.

Lunch went well on Saturday, and there weren't any snags. It took me an entire day to get everything ready. My mother in law was able to come and enjoyed herself.

Mary, your DD and sil must be so impatient for their dream home to get started. That's exciting. I know what you mean about those tiny Lego pieces......

Have a great day, friends.

A round and a half of the border on the baby ghan and it's done. Not a huge ghan, but I'm in love with the design and embellishments that DH and I came up with...

Hi Ladies,

Mary, Lots of exciting days coming for DD and SIL.

Cindy, It's nice your MIL could join the family. It seems small gatherings take just as much work and time as the large gatherings do. Or it's because were getting older. lol

Judy, Can't wait to see the baby afghan and your next project.

Joanne, It sounds like you had a fun filled weekend.

Hi to LeeAnn and Michelle!

We we've been enjoying the pontoon out on the water. Maya wanted to go out in the middle of the lake to go swimming. But we found the perfect spot she decided she didn't want to swim after all. The water is cold. A month ago it was really warm. It's going to be cooler today so I think we will make some cookies. Hope everyone has a good week!

Good afternoon House!

I am finally able to breathe a bit and feel much more caught up.

Judy-wow!  You are finished with another project?  You are super fast!  I bet you will have this next project done in no time. :-)

Cindy-so glad that your Saturday family event was fun!  I used to love hosting family get togethers but found that I was the only one ever doing any of the work..I miss them just wish I had more help.

Joanne-A day of relaxation sounds perfect!  I love the idea of knitting/crocheting and jumping in the pool.  Hope your week has started off well.

Marlene-is everyone feeling better?  hope they are over the bug.

Mary-building a house is so exciting! I remember when my sister was having hers built, the designs that folks come up with are so neat!

Last week we had our local Art Walk, my dd was my featured artist.  I am so proud of her, she sold 4/6 of her pieces, she was a happy gal.  She starts work next week.  Our ds has been working like a bee all summer long but starts his summer college program next week too.  He will be staying in the dorms for 3 weeks, he is not all that happy about staying in the dorms but since it is for a short period of time, I think he will be ok.  He is getting extra help with some of his classes and will take 2 classes in the 3 week period.

Business has been booming! I just finished a huge custom order for 120 of the Chill Pill soaps, also an order for my newest Yarn Ball soaps and a yarn order.  I am happy for the sales as I know that August is a bit slow..with folks getting ready to go back to school sales are usually sparse.

Attached a few photos of the newest finished projects, did get the baby ghan done too..woohoo!

hugs and warmest of wishes!
