Our House Part Two

We're expecting more snow this weekend. Ugh... I'm tired of snow.

Some craziness coming up for us in the next month. It looks like Wayne is going to have surgery on his neck. We meet with the surgeon on the 17th to discuss the procedure and set up the surgery date. Alicia's spring break starts on the 22nd, and we're hoping to drive down to Florida. We'll visit my grandpa's cemetery and then have some fun. I think some time at the beach and maybe a day at either Sea World or Busch Gardens. I don't know that we could do both. And hopefully it will work out to meet up with one of my aunts and her little ones. Then probably surgery the next week or 2. It will NOT happen during spring break. :)

And I just found out that I was approved to go to a library conference in June. Everything is paid except Wayne's plane ticket. Excellent! :)

The sky is already darkening here in NJ, Holly. Our 13th storm is on it's way by tomorrow noon and like you were totally sick of it.

The conference sounds like a great getaway!

Hi ladies. It's snowing again, and there is a winter storm warning posted. Enough already! However, it was a sunny dat till about 4, although bitterly cold. We met dd, dsil and the boys at the zoo this afternoon. It was the season opening day at the zoo, and there were quite a number of people there, despite the weather. We had dinner at DD's house afterwards, but left shortly afterwards because of the weather.

Nothing much else going on here.

Judy, that is a beautiful kitty. And sticking to a routine is hard for me too.

Holly, sounds like busy times ahead for your family. Hope Wayne's surgery is not for anything really serious and that all goes well with that.

Joanne, sorry about the damage to your home. Thankfully we do have shop vac sand homes can be repaired.

Linda, congrats on selling a shawl. Poor John, that news must have been very disappointing.

Hi Ladies,

Joanne, Thank goodness for the shop vac. Good luck with the repairs.

Judy, Hope the storm doesn't cause any problems for your flight out wednesday. Beautiful cat and great pic of you.

Linda, Congratulations on the sale of a shawl. Such sad news for John.

Holly, Sounds like a nice spring break coming up. Best wishes for your husbands surgery.

Mary, Hope you made it through the day with the boys today.

Today we served 94 lunches. We had hot pork sandwiches with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and cake for dessert.  Tomorrow night were going out for ice cream with 2 other couples. Daisy was sick several times throughout the night so today I had to go wash the bedding. I just washed it all a few days ago. Someone here in the park gave a beef bone. She can't have that stuff on more. Today she was all better.

DS was at are house and said his camero was completely covered over. If you didn't know his car was there you wouldn't of known. Everyone stay safe and warm while this next storm moves through. Have a nice sunday!

We'll be married 14 years in June. My husband injured his back and neck about 12 years ago in a work accident. He worked for a car dealership and delivered car parts to different dealerships and body shops. One day, he got stuck helping unload a transmission at one of the body shops. The other guy fell and Wayne took all the weight. Since then, it's been a near constant struggle. About 7 years ago, problems got bad enough that he couldn't work anymore. About 4 years ago, he finally got approved for Disability, but that was after selling the house because we couldn't afford the mortgage anymore. We ended up living with my parents for about 5 years. We've been out on our own for about 2 years, but probably will be playing catch up with crazy bills forever. Anyway... this surgery will be for his neck. They're going to clean out all sorts of bone spurs and arthritis and then take out the damaged discs and fuse the whole thing... ugh! Hopefully it will take care of the numbness in his hands and the pain that shoots down his arms.

I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to getting away from everything!

Holly, I'm so sorry for the struggles you have had leading up to this. I sure hope that surgery will relieve his symptoms and make him more comfortable.

Oh, and did I mention, it's snowing?

No big plans here today. Church this morning, and I think ds will come over for lunch.

thanks, Marlene! And we never give meat bones to our dogs, as big as they are. Too fatty and they can splinter and hurt the dogs insides....

Good morning

Holly. I sure hope that the surgery will relieve your hubby. You sure have been through a lot. Enjoy your time away.

Judy. Love the pic with you and your grand kitty. Beautiful!!!!! Yup may be rain first but I have a feeling we r in for one last hurrah. I'm already planning on working from home tomorrow I will have the 6am to noon shift. Forgot to ask how was the prayer shawl group ?

Cindy. Enjoy your relaxing day.

Linda. So sorry to hear about John. I will keep him in my prayers .

Marlene. You sur keep busy while you are down in Texas!!! Hope you get a little rest!

I went for a mani yesterday morning and then over to dd to watch R &R. Dd and sil went to an open house at their church for preschool for Ryan in the fall. Can't believe its that time already. Then dd had a bridal shower to go to and sil had to go to work . It was a fun day with the boys but let me tell you I slept like a baby. Robbie is in to everything now that he is walking !! They are fun but tiring. Ryan was so cute when he said we r going to have fun with Grammie. Melted my heart. Today we have to head to the grocery store. Not because if the impending storm but because we r out if fruit and veggies and almost out of milk. Hoping it won't be too crowded. We r heading out momentarily. Well when DH is finished getting ready. Who says women take a long time to get ready??lol

I'm also heading to Moore yarn they r holding another skein of the seasons yarn for me

Have a good day all

Holly - Hope the surgery goes well for DH.

Judy - beautiful grandkitty!!  J

Joanne -  Sounds like a fun day with the boys.  Enjoy your yarn!  Stay safe and warm.

Cindy - Enjoy your day today.

Linda - so sorry to hear about John.  Will pray for healing for him.

Marlene - what an adorable baby!!  Hope Maya gets better soon.

Well, we're back in the ice bowl :(  It started during the night.  We got ice, now snow for now, later today freezing rain and sleet and maybe some more snow.  The temps are brutal - wind chill is -9.  Brrrrrrrrrr    Most churches have canceled services.  I'm sure the schools will all be closed tomorrow since we're going to get more of this stuff today.  So I'm hoping ALL the schools are closed tomorrow and I can stay home and crochet.  Bought a new pattern for a dinosaur from Heidi Bears Designs or Raverly.  It's done in the African Flower motif.  Will be interesting to see if I can figure it out and get this critter made for DIL for Christmas.  The pattern is half off until today.

Littlest GS is still not feeling well, he's been sick with his tummy hurting for almost 2 weeks now.  If he's still not feeling well next week, I'm going to ask DD to see if he can go to a specialist.  He's missed several days of school with this stuff.

All have a good day!  Please stay safe and warm!!    Hugs to all of you!

Good Morning, all. :flake    Winter is back.  Brrr - freezing rain and 24 degrees.  Friday and yesterday were in the 80's!

Holly ~ Sending positive thoughts and prayers that your DH's surgery goes well. :hug   I hope you're able to go on your trip...you definitely deserve a break and some time in the sun. :yes   And the library conference will be a nice break, too! :)

Sherry ~ Stay safe!  Oh, I hope you have a day off tomorrow and can spend it with your hook and yarn.  Love the African Flower pattern!  Poor little GS - sending hugs for him. :hug

Joanne ~ Oh no!  Did the water leak cause a lot of damage?  Yep, you and I both slept well last night. :lol  8 hours with both boys was a very busy day. ;)

Judy ~ 3 more days!!!  Your DS's cat looks so much like Annie, the rescue cat we adopted for MIL years ago.  Wonderful picture of you with your grandcat.  :)

I'll be back with more responses...our neighbor across the street just slid into our brick mailbox.  He's fine, thank goodness but his new BMW doesn't look too good.   This is the 3rd time we've had to have it rebuilt, so we've had plenty of experience. :(

Joanne, the neighbor who was going to take me to prayer shawl group had to cancel the last minute. I could have gone by myself, but the first time going somewhere at night I would rather someone else drive so I know the way. I'm very out of practice with night driving. I was pretty disappointed, but I'm philosophical about those things...I'm hoping I can get there in April.

Sherry, sounds like GS will be seeing the doctor soon....poor little guy.....

Neighbor is fine, his car isn't fine, mailbox is (hopefully) repairable without having to replace it.  We don't live on a curve or hill, but people just keep running into ours!  3rd time in 12 years.  We'll have to put up a temporary mailbox or they won't deliver our mail...we just happen to have one in the attic. :lol

Linda ~ What a fun story about your friend buying the shawl!  I was so sorry to read about John.  It would be hard to always have "the fear or the unknown" in the back of your mind.  Sending hugs :hug   for John and Rosie.

Cindy ~ I hope you all are safe and warm.  I'm glad you got to spend time with family yesterday!

Marlene ~ 94 lunches!!  The menu sounded delicious. :yes   Poor little Daisy - I hope she's all better today.

Hi to everyone at Our House. ♥♥♥  Time to change laundry and crochet for a while. :)

Mary - we're having thundersleet - not so wonderful :(   Not sure if some of you know that term but it's a thunderstorm and instead of rain we get sleet.  It's really coming down.  The last time we had thundersleet we got about 6 inches of sleet.  I'm hoping it's not going to be that much this time.  Some of the schools have already closed but of course OKC schools hasn't posted anything (if they close, we close).  but as bad as it is, I'm sure we'll close anyway.  Mary sorry about your mailbox but sounds like you've got a lot of experience repairing.  Glad the neighbor was ok.

Judy - I think I've got DD convinced to see a specialist about his tummy.  but the weather has to clear up first, so it may be later in the week before she will be able to get something done.

I'm printing off my dinosaur pattern right now.  It's 39 pages!!!  Very detailed instructions so hopefully I'll be able to get this one done this year for her Christmas present LOL!!

Well, have a wonderful evening and stay warm and safe.

Hi, all.  It's a lovely spring day today.  And there is green in the grass today instead of just dead brown stuff.  The bushes out front have some teeny, tiny buds on them.  Hope that spring is finally going to get here.  We're so far behind that when the buds all pop there are going to be flowers everywhere.  It's all going to come in a rush.

Linda, WTG on getting paid for one of your beautiful shawls! When DH retired (the first time...lol) he had to wait months before starting the job he had waiting for him. The saving grace was that he kept to a routine. That would be hard for me to do!
And that's so sad about John. A real bummer...is he normally an upbeat person? I don't remember what you might have said about him.

I actually think that John is just happy to know what's going on.  It really doesn't change anything, but now he knows what's causing all the troubling symptoms.

Forgot to post this pic from this morning. DS is away and we went to his apartment  to check on our grandkitty. She loves atentionand lay on her side while I worked at getting out a big mat from behind her ear, just curling one paw a little....so sweet.

Oh, what a pretty grand kitty you have.

Good Morning!  The sun is out, it's 10* and it's snowing!  Wind chill is -4...this is not normal for us. :eek   How can it snow when it's sunny and the sky is blue? :lol

Before I forget, the Joann's ad in our Sunday paper has 5 coupons for 40% off any regular priced item!  Those plus the one on my phone could add up to great savings!

Holly ~ Oh, I'll be keeping fingers crossed and praying that your DH can see improvement after this surgery. :hug

Sherry ~ Oh my.  39 pages...better start soon. ;)   It is such a wonderful pattern it will be worth it. :yes

Judy ~ Only 2 more days!  Are you taking any crocheting with you?

Linda ~ I hope your spring weather continues!  Do you have art class today?

Better get back to the desk.  Have a good morning, all. :manyheart

Good morning.  Yes, drawing class is this afternoon.  I'm looking forward to it.  I've been working on another picture of seashells this week.  There are four of them in this one.  All various sizes and styles.  I've got the shells done and just have to add the shadows and background shading now.   :D   I like how it's turning out.

We've got a misty rain going on now. which is supposed to continue for most of the day.  At least it's warm out there.

Mary, I'm not sure if I'm going to bring any crocheting wih me. Toying with the idea, though. I have the top down shawl in the works and after you mentioned the ATW baby ghan I got the itch to start one....maybe I can squeeze something in the tote I'm carrying on board.

Well we got the day off today.  Not sure about tomorrow.  Nothing is melting  since the high is 14 brrrrrrrrr.  Side streets are terrible but hopefully the main streets will be better this afternoon.  Of course, it will get really low again tonight so no telling what the main roads will be like in the morning.  Probably OKC schools won't be open since the temps are so low.  They won't delay starting school, so they cancel it.  The kids are going to have to make up a lot of days.

Judy - I know you're getting excited about the trip.  Take a small project on board in your tote. The last time I flew they wouldn't let you take anything on the plane but they have changed the rules now to take crochet hooks on board.  Taking any books?  I usually take a word search or easy crossword book and paperback book to read.  Enjoy your trip!!

Mary - I feel your pain - we're not used to -15 wind chills here.  I'm soooo ready for spring but then that means tornadoes.  Just can't win here.

A good friend posted this on FB today, "A winter/spring/seismic watch has been issued for a snowquakenado for Oklahoma."  No joke, we had a 3.2 earthquake, thunderstorms (which produced thundersleet or thundersnow--not a good thing, you tend to get a lot more of the stuff when it's a thunderstorm).

Well DH made it back from HL (they never close the warehouse), so I'll go see how his day was.  Stay safe and warm all!

I have 2 books to bring, some pens and notebooks since I write off and on. Also a travel journal. I'll check my stash and look for small balls of yarn to make saltines, I think. A lot less bulky than my shawl.... All that is the only reason I need a carry on bag for under the seat....lol!

Hi all,

it is freezing!!! Going down to zero tonight! I went into work late after it stopped snowing this morning- we didn't get a lot- but enough that I shoveled before leaving. Going to head to craft club in a few

Judy- I highly recommend taking something on the plane- When we flew to AL last year it was nice to have something to do between planes- and while waiting for the plane- and while on the plane! No problem bringing hooks. I had my nook too on board. You must be getting so excited!!!

Sherry Never heard of a snowquakenado before- sounds pretty scary- stay safe and warm- and hope you get another day off tomorrow-

Hope everyone is doing well- I should really grab something to eat before heading out in the arctic cold!

Have fun at craft club, Joanne. I measured my scissors and they're less than 4 inches, so are legal for the plane. I think I'll look through my stash and see what speaks to me. Or I just might bring the shawl to work on, since there's no cutting of yarn involved and I can just keep going back and forth.

I have some books on my nook and kindle, but will be sharing chargers with my friend, so my phone may be all I bring with me. I'm currently engrossed in one book by Karen White called The Strangers on Montagu Street. It's book 3 of 4 and because I loved the cover art on the books and have a friend who may like to borrow them, I decided to get the real books. I'm starting to do that more and more these days.

I also have a book club book I want to get going on. Last name of that author is Coben. Very popular but I've never read him yet. So, I have my two choices. Of course, given the time difference I may end up sleeping more than anything else...lol.

Speaking of art work, how has your DD been since her kitty passed? Been thinking of her.....
