Our House Part Two

Hi Ladies,

Mary, I don't know if the pattern you gave the link for is it or not. I know I didn't buy the pattern. And also that this pattern was out around 2005/2006 or before as Maya was born in 2006 and I had this ready for the baby shower. I do know that I'm not leaving home without my favorite or possible baby patterns again. Just run out of time to look for them.

Tam, Your projects are all beautiful. The coffee cup for the hooks is pretty neat. I'm using black, white and burgandy for the afghan I'm making.

Judy, That a nice pattern you started.

Joanne, Smart move staying home today. To much snow to worry about how your going to get home safely.

Holly, Hope things to messy for your trip home tonight.

Linda, The same thing happened to my BIL. Follow this diet for his sugar and something completely different for his kidneys. Good luck!

Cindy, Ya for an easy work day.

Thanks for the compliments on the Maya's blanket and my family. It's going to get cold here again. I don't want to rush the winter but I hope February is warmer like it usually is. We were spoiled with are warm winter/summer temps last winter.

My friend Karen who had a brain anersym got worse after they got down here. She was on steroids to long and she wasn't up to walking and she got very weak. Her husband ended up taking her to the hospital (she was in the hospital when we got here) and have some time they sent her to a nursing home for rehabilitation. Luckily for her there is one about a mile away from us. I went to see her today. We had a nice visit. She will be there awhile. She has to get strong enough to walk again. Her husband said she needed to be on the steroids to keep the swelling down on her brain.

Hope everyone has a nice wednesday! Stay warm!

Finally got a new battery for my watch, so it's working again.  Boy, did it ever feel weird not knowing what time it was for the last several days.   :P

It's getting really cold and is still super windy out there.  Brrr!!

Heading for bed, as tomorrow is my long day at work tomorrow.

Good morning

Bitter cold about -9 with wind chill. Snow has stopped. We got a little over a foot. About 13-14 inches. Our lawn guy just left and we are all plowed out and steps are shoveled. I have a delayed opening at work of 10 so I'll head in but taking my time. My DD got home around 8 last night. She said the roads were scary. I was finally able to relax when she called.

All the schools here are closed today. They should have closed yesterday. There were early dismissals but by the time they got out the roads were bad.

Have a good day

Good morning. It's bitterly cold here as well, but no new snow to speak of. I have a meeting today at 4, but otherwise it's a day off. Laundry is on my to do list.

Marlene, I'm sorry you can't find that blanket pattern. I find that online patterns come and go. When Caron came out with their "country" yarn a few years ago, they published some really nice free patterns for it. Most of those patterns have already disappeared from their site.

Regarding finding patterns when you want them: whenever I use a pattern that I like, I print out a second copy and put it away in a folder. I have folders for all sorts of things, baby clothes, blankets, larger afghans, scarves and hats, etc. That makes it a little easier to find what I'm looking for.

Now that I have an iPad, I can save patterns on it as well. I only know how to save a PDF but I think it's probably possible to save others as well. I like to work from a paper pattern though, since I often add notes to them.

Linda, have a good day at work, hope it's busy enough to make the time go quickly, but not so busy that you are exhausted.

Joanne, be careful out on the roads. It's too cold for ice to work, so they will be slippery.

Tam, I am always amazed at how many projects you complete. Beautiful work, as always. Even though you quit your job, it seems to me, you will still be busy with all those projects.

Judy, wonder what Sparkie and Lucy will think of all that snow, mixed with such bitter cold. Sophie doesn't mind snow, but she isn't at all interested in being outside when it's cold, (unless, of course, there are squirrels or wild turkeys involved.

Holly, it's amazing how much more snow fell such a short distance from you. Do you have to venture out today?

Mary, even with your dh retired, your days seem very busy. My life is a lot quieter, and I am still working! Hope you found some time to crochet.

Val and Marisa, hope you are both doing well.

Well, coffee is done, so off to get a cup.

'morning, my friends!

We've been out back already and even with the bitter cold I still had to bribe Lucy to come in! Both pups have such fun, and this stuff is fluffy so it's easy even for the old guy to prance around in it, long lime green Kong toy in his mouth - because that's the only way to describe his body language! Lucy had fun tossing her solid rubber kong ball in the air and then trying to find it when it got buried. She's make a great search dog for avalanche victims...lol!

Our neighbor cleared our walkway and whatever parts of the driveway he could reach....he did several other neighbors, too - before he left for work at 6:30!

Ah, to be 40 years old again......

Today will be a day to get caught up with some upstairs cleaning....later gators!

oh....I've learned to watch the squirrel activity as a predictor of weather. This is the second time we noticed frantic activity in and around our yard/neighborhood...and within 24 hours it began to snow!

Hi all - sorry to be missing for so long!  Lots has happened!!!  I woke up last Wednesday with no voice, went to the dr and said it was allergies (the wind had been blowing red cedar pollen into OK from TX all weekend), so he gave me meds and sent me home.  I was so tired every night I was in bed by 7.  At least I have my voice back now but I have the nasty cough that I always get when I get this.  At least the antibotics have helped keeping it from being bronchitis.

My DS and DIL finally got to come for "Christmas" last weekend.  We had a lot of fun and she loved her owls and the potato chip scarf I made her (and of course their gift cards).

For those of you in the snow storm's way - be safe and be warm!  Don't get out unless you absolutely have to!!!!  We are to get the artic blast tomorrow, and I'll be picking up the GS from school so they don't have to walk in it.  I'm not staying with the GS at night now but I will go and get them when the weather's bad--it's several blocks from the apt to the school.

Stay warm my friends!!  Hugs to all of you.

Around here it's birds that we use as weather predictors. They show up at the feeders in much larger numbers than usual, and they hang around the house instead of going back out to wherever they came from. We live in the woods so we always have lots of squirrels eating under the bird feeders and I've never noticed them to be any more active when bad weather threatens.

Bitterly cold here.  It was only 13* when I took Sweet Pea for her walk a few minutes ago.  With the wind low it was still enough to fog my glasses up to unable to see through visibility when we came back inside.  Brrr!  Not fun.  And it's only supposed to get up to around freezing for the high today.  Yuck!!!

I can see the pups in the snow from your description, Judy.  Fun!

Good to hear from you, Sherry.  Sorry you've been so sick.  Hope you are feeling better soon and that you don't end up with bronchitis.

Take care everyone.

Good to see you Sherry! Like Cindy, DH would love it if I would lose my voice again...esp today. One day and we're getting cabin fever....I hope you feel better quickly.

Linda, the fogging of the glasses has happened to me...a nuisance for sure!!

Cindy, we never have bird feeders...when I tried to put them out the dogs would get into all the yuck underneath it :yuck    We have alot of oak trees here and the squirrels always leave a ton of broken pieces of acorns in the yard!

My cleaning is done for the day - I always get a lot accomplished if I do it all before getting showered and dressed...lol! Now it's time to read and hook :)

Our library branch didn't close today or yesterday. So I'm at work and the kids are at school. The roads aren't nice, but they aren't terrible. And since the kids have used their built in snow make up days now, I'd just as soon they go if the roads are safe. They already go so late anyway.

Sigh, I should just quit mentioning snow at all, it started snowing soon after I said it hadn't snowed here and it hasn't stopped yet. I had to drive to and from my meeting on lousy roads. Of course I'm getting used to that.

I finished one of my knit scarves today and started a pair of knit slippers. However I only did a few rows before I remembered my plan to have two finishes for every new start. So I frogged the slippers. Okay, I admit that they looked like they would turn out large enough to fit Bigfoot, but still I should get some sort of credit for my actions! :)

Hi Ladies,

Cindy, I've decided I'm going to make a copy of things i've made and bring them here and leave them. I know the pattern I'm looking for is with the pattern I used for Jocelyn and the one I used for Payton. I cut back on bringing things with me as I think I will use it here and I don't so I just brought what I thought I might need. It's always the one you don't have that you want. I was wondering if it was a company's pattern and they don't have it on the site any more.

Judy, I can see the dogs out jumping around in the snow to.

Sherry, Hope your feeling better real soon.

Joanne, Hope you were able to get to work and home safely today.

Linda and everyone else dress warm. I know I will be. Are high friday is suppose to be 40. They are calling for ice not that far from us.

Today at crafts the suncatchers we made, Don came up and drilled holes in them so we could connect them. Are project for today was diamond folded photo albums. There really cute. You use scrapbooking paper, card stock, ribbon, and it's all put together with double sticky tape. Today the relay for life committee had a taco lunch. It was nice having a meal we didn't have to cook. Tonight we played cards. A couple from England came in. Are park is full so there staying down the street. But real soon they will be here. They are friends with two couples here. I just love listening to her talk.

Hope everyone has a nice friday!

I'm trying to start a new project - a cocoon for a work friends' soon-to-arrive nephew. I realized that I'd forgotten a color for the little farm play mat I'm making for Sami, so I'm stuck there. And I'm getting tired of my afghan. I might be heading back to that afghan soon, though. :)

We've already gotten the call that the schools have a 2 hour delay tomorrow. With the windchill, they're expecting the temps to be -20ish. I won't be surprised if they end up calling off. What a month this is turning into!

Good morning

Sherry- hope you are feeling better!!!!

Cindy- sorry you had to drive in the yucky snow. I opted to stay home again yesterday since my street wasn't plowed yet. I haven't taken days off in so long that I felt a little guilty but I got over it I like your reasoning and give you credit.

I finally finished the sunny spread yesterday. I went to update the project on ravelry and see that I started it august 2012!!!! Feels good to have that Wip done!!!

It's another bitterly cold day today and I'm sure there are going to be some icy spots on the road but I'm going into work.

Stay warm everyone.

Good morning. I am off today but I will be going into work for yet another meeting. It's not snowing at this moment, but it's bitterly cold. I have to work tomorrow.

Joanne, I'd stay home if I could, but unfortunately, my job is one of those that needs to keep going, regardless of the weather. Hope your commute isn't too bad today.

Marlene, that park sure sounds like it has a lot going on. No wonder you like spending your winters there.

Holly, the farm mat sounds fun. My middle grandson is crazy about all things farm related, although he's probably too old for a play mat of any sort.

Well, coffee is ready...off I go.....

Good Morning to all!!  Brrrrrrrrr!  The high today will be 25 with a 30 mph wind (so no telling what the wind chill will be but it will be brutal).  Glad all of you are safe.  Sorry some have to get out in the weather but some jobs just require that.  Please take your time and be safe.

Still not feeling up to par.  My family expects me to lose my voice at least once or twice a year but usually it's not for such a long time like this time.  It was hard for my littlest GS as he asks questions on the 20 minute drive to school and I whispered to him I couldn't answer any questions--the quietest drive we've ever had.  He was sad that we couldn't talk but we're making up for it now LOL.   The bad thing was trying to work and answer the stupid phone.  Basically I'm the only one in the office most days, so it's tough when I do lose my voice.  It's hard to take off in January as it's a bookkeeper's month and I have all sorts of reports and forms to do.  So I plan to rest a lot this weekend.

Well I plan to finish my sweater this weekend.  I have the last two squares almost finished and then I can join them to the other two and do the edging.  I

Well, I'd better get to work - everyone stay safe and warm.  Hugs to all of you!!

Morning, everyone!

Ok...those of you who know me, know I detest summer and love cold weather.

I have reached my breaking point though. The thermometer outside read 0 at 7:30 this morning....it's numbing....the dogs, unfortunately, still want to,play in the snow, so I layered up and we went out for a play session. A short one. Might get into the twenties later...still way below the norm for this time of year where we live. Took me longer to remove all the layers than the time I spent outside...lol!

Stay warm, my friends! Off to make brownies....

It's 31* which is about as warm as it's going to get today.  But when the wind hits you it feels a whole lot colder.  Yesterday I froze at work.  Even when I got home to my nice warm apartment I didn't really get warm until I went to bed.  I'm better layered today.

Stay safe in this snowy, cold weather everyone.

Sherry, hope your voice comes back soon.

Work and Prayer Shawl group tonight.

My blood sugars are NOT behaving.  The increase in insulin is helping but not nearly as much as I hoped.  And I'm being very, very strict with the diet.  So much so that I woke up with severe leg cramps in the night.  Yuck!  Whatever is happening, it's not what I'm doing, it's whatever is going on in my body.  It really does feel like my body was making some insulin, just not enough, and now it's stopped making any at all.  Does that make sense?

Anyway, have a good day and stay safe in this screwy weather.

Hi House. :)   It sounds like we're all experiencing really cold stuff!  It's supposed to snow and sleet just south of us later...I hope it stays there.  DH and I are going to the store after while - just in case the forecast is wrong. :lol

Sherry ~ Feel better soon. :hug   So glad you had a good time with family last weekend.

Linda ~ I'm so sorry you're going through the health issues. :hug   Hopefully, things will turn around soon.  Have a good time at prayer shawl group tonight!

Joanne ~ Congratulations on finishing the afghan! :cheer

Cindy ~ Stay safe on those roads!  Yes, my days are very busy.  We're still adjusting to DH not driving and not working...but all is well. :yes   'Out of the blue,' he has had two calls from people wanting him to do some consulting work!  They understand about his eyes and not driving, but really want to talk to him.  Lots of details to think about, so we'll see!

Hi to Holly, Judy, Marlene and the rest of the house. ♥♥♥

Have a good day!

Hi Ladies,

Joanne, Congrats on finishing your afghan.

Cindy, Be careful driving tomorrow. We have something going on here everyday so you can as busy as you want to be. Were waiting for them to get the shuffleboards done so we can play that. We really enjoyed it when we were in Florida. They also have horseshoes. They said after the super bowl.

Sherry, Hope your feeling better real soon.

Mary, Hope the weather stays in between us. It's very windy here. This afternoon they said the winds were 41mph.

Linda, Have a nice time with the prayer group tonight. Are you meeting back at the church tonight?

Holly, Stay safe and be warm. Good luck with your projects. The farm play mat sounds interesting.

Judy, Your a good mommy layering up to go out and play with the dogs in the cold weather.

Saturday we are making breakfast so tomorrow were doing the potatoes. Hope everyone has a nice friday! Stay safe and be warm!

Brrrrrrrr - it's 4* with a wind chill of minus something (who cares at this point LOL).  The public school here in OKC is closed today because of the temps but it's supposed to be nearly 50 this afternoon.  I can't understand why they just don't delay a couple of hours and go ahead and have school.  Yesterday was colder during the day and they had school.  But the day care will be open since it's not icy/snowy.

Mary - hope things work out for your DH.  I know it's frustrating for both of you.

Linda - hope you can figure out soon what's going on with your health.  Will be praying for you.

Joanne - congrats on getting the afghan done!!!  I found the box with the one I started over 2 years ago--need to get it out and finish it (it's for me, so maybe it will get done this year!)

Judy - Glad your dogs like cold, our pup won't go out at all when it's cold.

Update on Missy Snuggles - she's kept this splint on so far for 2 weeks, one week to go and then I hope we will be done with the splint!!  Then we will have to schedule her "necessary" surgery later next month or so.  Was going to do it sooner but with the broken leg, we had to wait.

Well, I'd better get in there and get my lunch fixed so I can brave the Artic cold.   Stay warm and safe my friends!!
