Our House Part Two

Good evening everyone. We are back at DD's house and relaxing after two very busy days. The car lost two belts on the drive out yesterday, but luckily we found a repair shop that was open before it totally died and only lost about an hour for the trip. Spent the majority of the afternoon at the Sheep and Wool Show and had lots of fun drooling over the many lovely yarns that were for sale there. Watched a number of people spinning yarn and had one of them explain the process and some of the different machines that were in use. Fascinating! Also watched a class of weavers learning the Saori method. Beautiful! I finally decided to splurge on some Alpaca yarn. Got two skeins of 1,200 yards in dark orange and light orange lace weight yarn from one vendor. And 800 yards of fingering weight Alpaca yarn in a bold, rich, dark red. Decided that was my limit on splurging on yarn. I've wanted to make something out of Alpaca for a long time and now I've got the chance. Yay!

From there we went on to Madrid where my mom lives. We stopped briefly at the nursing home to let her know that we had made it and would be back to see her in the morning. Then picked up sandwiches for supper and had an early night of it.

This morning we went back to see her and spent a good 3 1/2 hours with her talking, and having lunch with her. I showed her the plans for my apartment and how I'm going to organize it as well as a number of patterns that I've developed for some upcoming quilts. Talked about some of the options for keeping myself busy after getting settled in the apartment, too. She had the quilt I made her on her bed. She had on her birthday and mother's days gifts and one of her Christmas presents. Last year's Christmas gift was displayed on the wall. It was nice to see that she liked them.

Then this afternoon we went to niece's house for her oldest son's graduation from high school party. They expected about 300 and I think they hit it. It was hot but there was a nice breeze and it was nice. Got a chance to visit with both my brother and sister-in-law while there, too. Lucas is headed for college this fall and looks like he's got some very realistic goals in mind. I'm proud of him and of the way my niece has raised him and his siblings. They are all growing up to be very special kids. Lucas is the oldest of 9 and the first to leave home.

Thinking of all of you.

Love, :manyheart Linda

Good morning everyone. It's overcast and feels a lot like rain although it hasn't done any yet. We've dropped GS off at summer school already and I'm starting to think about breakfast.

I frogged the lacy shawl I started as I had chosen too small a hook for it. Too tiny and too dark to see what I was doing without taking off my glasses. I then restarted it using one strand of the lace weight navy wool, one strand of size 30 crochet cotton thread in ecru, and a size G hook. Much, much better. The cotton lets me see what I've done and where the stitches are and the wool will give it extra warmth while the cotton will decrease the tendency to stretch out of shape.

Joy and I will be doing some quilt store shopping while I'm here, too. I find it interesting that I can find material up here that I can't find at home and vice versa. Makes for fun shopping, especially since we now both quilt.

One of the fun things about my time with Mom yesterday was showing her some of my quilt patterns and the floor plan for my apartment. I could show her where things that have come down to me from her, my grandparents, and great-grandparents are going to have places of honor in my new home. I could talk about quilting with her too, since she used to quilt. Maybe not as fancy as what DD and I do, but still the general ideas and processes are the same. It was fun watching her eyes light up. She was doing a lot better than I was expecting which was nice to see, too. Her mobility is very, very poor but her mind is still in there. As long as I was patient and let her take her time it wasn't that hard to understand her when she talked either. She's fragile, but still with it and still feisty. I got some 4 generation pictures with her, DD, GS, and I. Also got family pictures at the graduation party. Will have lots to post when I get back home.

Time to water some plants/flowers before it gets too hot. Our heat index is supposed to be 105 today. :eek

Yikes!!!! :eek Try to stay cool.

Will catch you all later. Have a great day. :manyheart

Good morning housemates!

I've already ran several errands. It's cloudy and overcast. We still have rain coming this evening and for part of tomorrow.

During my wait time while out, I started weaving ends on the lettering for the Bama football field ghan.

I am going to crochet some today. I will clean tomorrow.:lol

Linda - It sounds like you're having the time of your life. It is well deserved. What a blessing to still have your mom. The yarn sounds beautiful. I am soooo glad that you're getting to enjoy your family.:cheer:clap

Judy & Mary - I hope this mood doesn't last long.

HOUSEMATES - Have a great day. I'll check back in later.

Good afternoon housemates :hi

Well, I always feel like the weekend passes quickly but yet feels long! :eek On Saturday morning, I went to an aerobics class at the Y and then ran errands with my sister. In the evening we and a group of friends walked into town for the Art Festival. It was supposed to be Steph and Bean's date night, but when it turned into a group I was invited too :lol Which I was glad because I really wanted to go, but try not to be intrusive at all. There was a lot of interesting things and then of course afterward we all hung out at a couple bars. Finished at a bar with outside seating across from PNC Park and after the Pirates game, Boyz to Men play a concert. We heard a bit of it sitting outside. Some of our neighbors also came out to join us too.

On Sunday, Steph and I spent the morning getting stuff ready for the afternoon after the Pirates game....they went. So, I did get some relaxing time. Then Ingrid and the kids came over just before they got back and we all had a cookout and hung out on the back deck since their side of the street gets the shade in the afternoon.

Today I went to the Y this morning again before showering and heading in here, which is why I'm a bit late today :shrug

Linda - Yummy chocolate :drool I can't wait to see a pic of your liqour set. I can 'hear' the happiness in your words and it makes me happy to 'see' this change for the better. Sounds like a wonderful visit with your mom :manyheart Awesome yarn haul with the alpaca and good idea switching up your shawl project now before you got too invested in it :yes

Judy - I do love to swim, although I haven't since living in long island. When I was in Philly, none of the gyms near me had a pool and the one that did was so tiny it probably would have been 5 strokes to cross :think:lol So I did swim this morning for the first time in about 7-8 years :eek I used to be a lifeguard back in college too :yes I hope you had a wonderful bfast with your goddaughter and nice treat to give yourself a mani/pedi!

Joanne - Good luck on the Devils win over the weekend. I was glad to see Miami win, but that was just because I was more interested in rooting against the Celtics that I was for Miami :lol Now, I'm not sure who I want to root for :think Glad to hear you had a great time at the graduation party :yay

Phyllis - Can't wait to see your projects :bounce

Julie - Thanks for the knitting link...there sure is a lot of info there :yes I love hearing your stories about Cam :yes

Cindy - How nice to get some quality alone time with your youngest gs :manyheart

Mary - How did Luke's 2nd lesson go....did he have it yet? Sorry dh had to finish up his fishing trip prematurely before catching anything :( Keep yourself cool and hydrated over there :yes

Val - Glad to hear that you're feeling better and getting some errands done today....you're already ahead of yesterday then :lol Enjoy the rain, do you guys need it?

Hi, ladies!

Linda, it's so nice to hear how your visit went with your mom.

Marisa, yay, for being able to swim!

My goddaughter made a wonderful veggie frittata for breakfast! What a cook she is...she's so talented in so many areas. Thursday is her HS graduation, and then I'll be joining her and her family for a late lunch here:

Off I go for the night - no hook time today. I still don't know what I want to work on.

Havea great night:hug:manyheart

Hi gang

Just a quick drop in .

Cindy

Have you ever seen this lady's knitting blog ?http://www.spudandchloe.com/blog/category/free-patterns/blankets/

Some real nice patterns there, links on the side . I was looking at the afghans made with squares, but she has other patterns too . Pretty neat to look at !

!

No I hadn't seen that, I really like that afghan made of squares too. It seems like that would be doable even for a slowpoke like me! Thanks for the link.

Nothing much to report here. I haven't done much crafting over the past few days, although I did read two books.

I worked today, and have to work tomorrow, and Thursday as well. Makes for a busy week when all my days are crowded together like that.

I'm using GS's laptop computer and it keeps doing things that I don't understand which is driving me a little crazy. Just lost my post for example. Not sure what I did wrong.

I'm about 1/4 of the rows done on the shawl, which is a drop in the hat in the amount of crocheting, but it's starting to look like something and I really like the contrast between the two threads I'm using. My shoulders are saying it's time to do something else for a while.

I had forgotten how BUSY 8 year olds are. WOW!!!! They are dynamos until they suddenly crash, take a short nap, and then are at it again. GS wanted to watch Incredible Hulk movies this afternoon. I had no idea how many of them there were out there now! After several hours of them, I'm totally overdosed on them. We played a game of rummy tonight. I finally got out of the hole on the last hand but still had the lowest score. :blush He's been having me read to him before bed every night and always wants one more chapter. Tonight though it's mommy's turn to read to him.

Have a good evening! :manyheart

Good morning!!!

What a day yesterday!!! Slept till the last minute that I possibly could. Had a great time watching Ryan on Sunday but I didn't get home till almost 10PM- and I guess all that chasing after him did me in!!! He's such a happy little guy- but oh, so active now that he is crawling, standing and climbing stairs!!! Loved every minute though!

Came home last night around 6:30- then had to catch up on laundry that didn't get done- so I did that while watching the Devils--then turned it off since it wasn't going well for them and switched to the Yankees and finished a Queen's Ann Lace Scarf.

I'm going to be extra busy at work this week so may not be popping in here as much till the end of the week!! Read all the posts, and am so happy to hear Linda having such a great time!! So good to "hear" the joy in her voice!

Time is ticking- so off I go!!!

morning peeps!

Joanne, when you're chasing a little one around you don't need a gym membership!

I hope you get a chance to take some breaks this week.

He's been having me read to him before bed every night and always wants one more chapter. Tonight though it's mommy's turn to read to him.

I remember - and miss - those days of "one more story...chapter"

Your visit has been so busy you must be amazed at how quickly the days are going!

Have a good one, my friends.:hug:manyheart

Good morning ladies :hi

Not much going on in my part of the world today. Last night I worked a few rows of the graduation graph ghan and finished reading my book. This morning I woke at 7, but rolled over and went back to sleep until almost 8:30 :D I feel great now! Although I could use some coffee, better go get that now that I finished up my breakfast :think

I have a lady calling me at 10:30 to talk me through something I can't figure out on my office software program. It shouldn't take long. We've done it before when I first got it, but now I can't remember and for some reason missed writing down that conversation which is so not like me :lol But it's something I don't have to regularly do or use.

Cindy - I hope work treats you well these next 3 days. WTG on your reading :clap

Linda - It's great that you're getting so much quality time with your gs :manyheart Give your shoulders a break today :think

Joanne - Glad to hear you got a nice dose of Ryan therapy before this hectic week for you :hug I hope it goes quickly.

Hi again ladies

I come with horrible news. I just found out that my friend lost one of the twin girls :( She just sent a text to let me know they just found out and she didn't feel like talking, but wanted to keep me posted since I was involved from the beginning with all the fertility stuff. Of course I understand she doesn't feel like chatting right now. They're being referred to a specialist and don't currently have any answers as to what happened yet. I would appreciate extra prayers for them and the remaining baby to continue healthy and strong :ghug

Hi Ladies,

Linda, It's so good hear joy in your readings. Hope the movers can work with your early move in. Your vacation sounds like your having lots of fun. Glad you had a nice visit with your Mom and other family members to. It sounds like your finds lots of nice things for your apt and hobbies to. When i'm on my laptop I put something small over the mouse pad because I tend to touch it and lose what I was typing. There so sensitive.

Marisa, It sounds like you had a great time with your family in Florida. Hubby's sister and niece just moved back from Florida. They moved there in november. She was here in april and she said it is totally different visiting there and living there. Hope you got your quicken fixed. Congrats on winning a Y membership. Congrats on 25 patients!

Judy, Congrats on the new phone. Mine is just a simple one. I like the looks of the newer models but I don't use internet on my phone so no sense of spending money on something I won't use. Nice of GD to make breakfast. It sounds yummy!

Mary, Maya loves the water. Grandpa taught her last summer. Sorry hubby had to get off the lake early with no fish.

Cindy, I bet GS loved spending time alone with you. I'm a slow knitter also. I did try some knitting a few weeks ago but holding the needle in my left hand hurts it.

Julie, Thanks for the knitting link. I like to look through them to and wish I could do it. I am glad Maya loves being here with us. I just wish Payton and Jocelyn were closer. Payton always wants to come to are house.

Val, I've been in the crochet mode to. I won't have Zac's afghan done because of it. It's just boring. But it does go fast. You'll get it back though.

Boy am I glad last week is over. It was a long week and very tiring. We had a nice time at DD's. Maya had a bowling party with rsvp and 2 people rsvpd. So DD canceled the party, but had the bowling party anyways. Two people that were invited showed up (twins). We had 4 girls and 1 boy and they had lots of fun. The boy is DD's friends son. I think they danced more than they bowled.

Court for DS went really well for him. The judge told the ex she had to stop bad mouthing him to the kids. It's in her best interest to give him his stuff within 30 days or DS will come back to court with a value list and she will owe him. He said she wouldn't like it if he was holding her stuff or sold it in a garage sale. The judge told her 3 times if she don't follow through with what he told her to do he will hold her in contempt and throw her in jail. He also told her he can take those kids and give them to a third party. So hopefully he's words were stern enough that she follows through. Only time will tell.

I need to do some laundry and go through some stuff that I put into a pile. Maya wants to go and pull the weeds in the lake so we can swim. We'll do that later when it warms up.

We have 2 graduation parties on saturday. Zacks and my niece. I'm going to help my sister friday with the cooking.

Grandpa took Maya fishing this morning. The came in and I made her lunch and asked her about fishing. She started crying. The fish got off her hook and she thought Grandpa was mad at her about it. I told her no he wasn't it happens to us to. I told her that fish didn't want to be caught now he wanted to go play with his friends.

I'll catch everyone later. Have a nice day!

Hi everyone. :) I've been super busy since 6 and I'm officially taking the afternoon off. :D

Judy ~ Your time with your goddaughter sounds so special. The restaurant looks awesome...and the view is stunning!

Linda ~ The navy and cream strands sound gorgeous together! I'm so glad you had a good visit with your mom. I have cousins who live near Madrid...on a farm close to Ames. We used to go there when my aunt and uncle were still running the farm. Good for you for getting some rest - you deserve it! :manyheart

Valerie ~ Are you cleaning today? :wink I seem to say "I'll do it tomorrow" more and more these days, so I had to laugh when you said it yesterday. :lol

Marisa ~ Oh, that is so sad about your friend's baby. :hug Hopefully, the surviving twin will be just fine. :c9 I'm glad you had a great weekend!

Joanne ~ They wear you out, don't they? :lol It sounds like he'll be walking soon!

Marlene ~ This judge sounds great! Hopefully your ex DIL will take him seriously now. Maya sounds like she's having a fun summer with you guys. :)

Luke is doing really well with his lessons. He's learning the basics - blowing bubbles, kicking his legs, jumping in, etc. I think I'll go watch his Thursday lesson.

I hope to finish the baby ripple today - finally!:crocheting

Marisa, I'm so sorry to hear about the twin not making it... prayers that the other one will be fine.

Marlene, thumbs up for that judge!

No hooking today. I feel at loose ends for some reason.

But I did move my pattern books to a shelf in the house (instead of in a big box in the garage) so it'll be easier to look through them when I want to.

Good evening Housemates!

I'm just getting out of bed. I posted from bed this morning because I had a horrible headache. I didn't want to complain so I didn't say anything. It's gone now...although a little woozy!

Mary - No, I couldn't clean.I'm weaving ends on the first Bama ghan letters. I'm going to attempt to watch the basketball game.

Marlene - Glad things are looking up for DS. It would be nice if his kids could spend sometime at your house with Maya...cousin bonding. The Lord will work it out.:hug

Judy - I think you use the words to describe how I've been feeling lately..."at loose ends."

Have a good night Housemates!!!

Good evening! We've had a quiet day for the most part. Went to a yarn store this afternoon and I drooled over more yarn. I think I'm withdrawal with having to give so much of it away for the move.

It looks like the move will happen on the 2nd. Hooray! Haven't actually talked to Joey in person, but John said that when he was over he had said that it would be possible. John and Kim didn't end up going to Panama City Beach until Sunday as she's still rather congested. And it sounds like they are coming home sooner than I will be. That's okay by me too. He can supervise the cleaners and make sure that they do it the way he wants it done instead of me.

Oh, Marisa! That is so sad. I sure hope the second twin is okay. When is she due? Will this mean that she has to deliver early? Keeping them in my prayers.

Marlene, I like the sound of this judge. Hope it serves as a wake-up call for DIL and that she starts acting better towards your son and you.

Hope you all have a good evening. :manyheart:manyheart

I'm hoping to watch the opener of "Dallas" tonight. I'm hoping that it's as good as the original. Time will tell. Don't think I've seen if any of the original characters are in this one or not.
