Good morning Housemates!

Read through all the posts- and of course I'm out of time to respond individually!

I'll say though that the score is Judy 1 (Rangers), Joanne 0 (Devils) Next game Wednesday night so I should have time to play on the computer a bit tonight!

Have a good day

(and Linda, please hang in there- and vent here all you need) Hugs to you!!!

Cindy

I was just joking with you about the afghan . I knew you hated doing anything like that with lots of pieces that need sewn together . That one would take a REALLY long time to make each panel and assemble. It's very pretty though .

Morning, Julie. I knew you were kidding.:lol You know me well enough to know that I do not have the patience for anything like that. Too much attention required!

Good morning. Sunny and warm here already. I have laundry going and plan to hang some of it outside. Can't waste this wonderful weather.

I'm going out for lunch with dd today, and will run some errands while I am out.

Good morning ladies :hi

I went to a presentation last night about selling amway products....they have different lines such as cosmetics, housecleaners, and vitamins/supplements. I'm not big on selling stuff but of course didn't have to make a decision right away and they were not pushy at all. I told them if anything the vitamin/supplements would be my interest, but that I had to compare and contrast them to the lines I already use that are exclusively available to doctors. On the same hand, I wouldn't really have to 'sell' it persay because they would just set me up a website and I would get a kickback for all product purchased through there. But on another hand, that's a whole new business venture with another tax id and all that jazz, which I also don't think I want to get into :think Well, I guess I'll research the product first and see how I feel about the quality before I make a final decision :shrug

After I got home, I worked almost another round of border on my mcal :clap

Nothing on the agenda for today, just some 'housecleaning paperwork' :lol

I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday :hug

Amway is based here in our area, and the owners of the company are very good people. They have done so much for this city, including endowing a wonderful children's hospital (Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital which is part of the health care system I work for, and is also a very beautiful building architecturally speaking) and a medical research center. (Van Andel Institute)

I know a few people who sell their products, and while they are not getting rich from this, they are making some money. Rumor has it that people do become very wealthy selling the products, but I think it would take a lot of work.

I've never tried their vitamins and other supplements, but their laundry and cleaning products perform well.

Great insight to the history of the company and some products, thanks :hug

They say they have their own organic farms from which they pull all the plants to make their supplements with out in San Diego. I haven't started going into it yet. If I decided to take them on, it's definitely not something that I'd be doing trying to work at selling it. It would more be an added bonus of getting the kickback if anybody I knew wanted to buy it anyway. I've been to several presentations for other companies like this, but never for anything that had a good enough product for me to get involved in. So if I did it, it would be because I like the product and am using it myself :yes

It must have been a common technique once because I checked three of the pamphlets and there were at least 6 of that type of pattern. Some were squares that had motifs embroidered on them.

It's not that one....but the old books do have beautiful patterns in them!

I'll say though that the score is Judy 1 (Rangers), Joanne 0 (Devils)

Good morning Housemates!

Cindy - Glad you had a good day at work. Enjoy your days and lunch with your DD. We didn't get the rain yesterday and eventually got the sun. However, today is cloudy and overcast. That afghan is beautiful! My mom use to love hanging our laundry outside!

Julie - :hug. I'm still weaving in ends on the houndstooth...it's hard doing the black if there's not a lot of light. The edging should be fast.

:birthday to CAM. Today is my parents anniversary and I also have a cousin celebrating her 34th birthday. Your family reunion sounds soooo fun! I know here will be a lot of laughter because you will be there.

Marisa - I never made it to cleaning the bathroom yesterday. I had a terrible headache that was painful down through my neck and shoulders. I'm feeling better today so I must clean the bathroom today. I have to get back to my MCAL when I finish the 2 ghans that are bringing in money.

Judy - Did you get any hooking time in yesterday?

Joanne - I hope you're having a great day!

Mary - Have a relaxing day crocheting. I'm glad you have a good time with family on Mother's Day.

Linda - What are the dates you're visiting your kids? I know you're going to have a wonderful time. Sending you :hug:manyheart to hold you as you count down to getting out of that house.

I did nothing yesterday. I had a terrible headache that's finally gone. I'm going to get up now and get to that bathroom.

Later, I'll start back weaving in ends. Have a great day housemates!!!

BBL.

Good morning everyone. It's overcast today, but not raining at the moment anyway. I dropped off my application and application fee at the apartment complex this morning. Had at least partial proof of my income for them too. I'm just $4 short of having the 2 1/2 times income vs rent, so should be okay on that front. My credit score isn't too good, but other than that I should be okay. I should know for sure later this week, maybe as soon as tomorrow. :xfin

John has been much nicer now that his list of things for me/us to accomplish is now done. Cleaners are coming tomorrow and again next week and carpets are being done on Friday. Lots of chaos.

Linda - :angry Grrrr!!!!!! I can't wait for you to no longer be at John's mercy! I'm glad you had yesterday off and were able to just relax and :yay for starting the ghan....that will help keep you sane too :yes Just keep trying your best to steer clear of the evil tyrant, only 2 months left :bounce

I think I've reached the place now where all I have to do is take care of Kim and do the normal amount of housework. That will help big-time. Should be able to get rested up more that way.

I'm meeting a girl from the Pitt Young Professional group tonight for some kind of meeting/presentation. It's one of those deals where they try to rope you into selling stuff. I told her that I don't know how into that I am, but that I would come check it out. It's invitation only and I truely have no interest, but do want to be social and 'gracious' about it since this is one of the people that organize some of the events and I think she'll have some great contacts :shrug:lol

:lol :lol :lol

We have begun gathering up more odds and ends for reunion. good grief, how I'll fit it all in my car I have no clue . We just heard last night that 3 more people are coming ,another of my favorite cousins who I rarely get to see,so I'm very excited about that . Nice to be among people who dont judge you but like you just the way you are .

didnt someone make a song with those words ?

Enjoy your day :)

It sure sounds like you're going to have a good time at the reunion. :manyheart

That afghan sounded familiar to me, but if I have it, I can't find it.

I do have a similar pattern, but I don't think it's the same one. The one I have is done in afghan stitch panels, but there are also afghan stitch panels with popcorns on them in the afghan. (whatever those are!) Every other panel has roses embroidered on it, but they are not very realistic looking roses. I'm pretty sure that the afghan is way beyond my skill level. It's the afghan pictured on the cover of this 1979 leaflet from leisure arts, which I bought at a flea market for 10 cents.

http://crochet4you1.tripod.com/books/leisure_arts_149.jpg

I got a bunch of afghan booklets from my mil when they moved out of their house, and several of the books have afghans that are made in panels and then a motif is embroidered on the panels. Most of them have roses or other flowers cross stitched on the panels, but one of them has cherries. These booklets are probably from the 40's or 50's though. It must have been a common technique once because I checked three of the pamphlets and there were at least 6 of that type of pattern. Some were squares that had motifs embroidered on them.

Not at all like the one you showed. The booklet is "Spinnerin, Fashions in Living," volume 168, copyright 1966 and the pattern is called 'Beguiling Tradition.'

When I was a kid, one of my aunts and uncles sold Amway. Their Degreaser was the best at getting stains out of clothes. That's been a long time ago, but I would hope that the quality has remained high.

What a gorgeous building! It's nice when companies help their neighborhoods out like that.

I really really love crocheting home spun. So much more enjoyable than the cheap acrylic low twist stuff from the store.

Beautiful. Love the color of the yarn. :clap:clap:clap

Linda ~ The afghan pattern is gorgeous - can't wait to see your pictures. :) I just know you'll get the apartment! Thank goodness John is being less obnoxious...hope it continues. :D

Cindy ~ By now you're probably enjoying lunch with your DD...hope it's great!

Marisa ~ I'm so glad the mall event went well! Your hard work and planning will make a big difference. :manyheart

Valerie ~ Oh, I'm glad your headache is better. :hug Will you come clean my bathrooms when you're through cleaning yours? :wink:lol

Julie ~ You sound so excited about the reunion...you're going to have a ball! And yep, three policemen handcuffed and escorted the woman to a squad car! I haven't heard what's going on now, but haven't seen the husband at all. He deserves a vacation!

Hi to the rest of the House, too. :manyheart

I feel a little less stressed now that I've caught up with the desk and laundry, but will do a few more things before my hook comes out. :hook

Hello all. I'm doing the relaxed cardi crochet along. Not very far but I started. :) and my son in law got me some pink yarn so I am also going to do a breast cancer awareness scarf. And have a dinosaur started and a graph ghan. Hmm have crocheted in a while but I guess I am diving back in!

First though I have to go plant a rose bush my daughter got me and fix some supper.

That rose afghan by busy bee is gorgeous!

Thanks everyone. The center panel of the afghan is about 1/8 done now. I'm going to mark evey 25 rows with contrasting yarn for purposes of making the cross-stitching and joining easier when I get that far. I'm doing the background of mine in beige and may do the roses in gold instead of red, but that won't be for a while yet, so time will tell. :hook

Hi everyone

Linda. Good luck with your apartment.

Faille, that is lovely and the handspun yarn is beautiful

CIndy hope your day was a relaxing one

Marisa I'm not a salesperson either. Might not be a bad idea ton just get a kickback though. Definitely agree it has to be something you would use yourself.

Judy. Good for you staying below goal

Mary. Hope your day found some crochet time

I'm on my I pad cause my Mac seems to have died. It is 7 hrs old and think that the hard drive is shot. Luckily I back it up on an external hard drive regularly

Off to put the laundry in the dryer. Have a good night

Good evening everyone. I got lots done today. I did laundry, ran errands, went out to lunch, vacuumed, cleaned bathrooms and dusted. I even cooked dinner. No time for crafting though. Maybe tomorrow.

Julie, your posting from the Fire is just like mine. I find it very awkward. I'm even worse with my phone.

Joanne, sorry to hear a bout your Mac.

Judy, WTG on keeping that weight off.

It/s been threatening to rain for a few hours and now I think I hear thunder, so I will say good night now.
