Our House Part Two

Hello Housemates,

I haven't read all the post and I just dropped in to let you guys know that I'm back in Georgia. I came home late Sunday...rode back to Alabama with my sister yesterday for a meeting with the city board in regards to my family home. Came back late last night. I'm still in a tired fog.

I had a great time in Bama. I do have a church member that's very ill and her family is not going to see her. Her name is Betty. Please pray for her.

It might take me up to the weekend before I get back to routine.

I wanted to let you guys know I'm well and kicking.

Praying extra prayers for those of you who need it.

Have a good night!!

Hi Jude

Hows your tooth feeling today ?

Joanne

I agree, sometimes all you need is a little time with a grandchild to make your day seem better . Your hair sounds cute .

Linda

Hope you can locate all your important papers so you can start receiving benefits and get the ball rolling .

Val

Glad you are back home safely. Sorry to hear about the church lady. It's sad when elderly people get forgotten like that by family, isnt it ?

Mary

Hope you got some crochet time in . I know you said you havent gotten many chances to work on it lately .

Well, Pyper made it through her surgery and was up eating a trayful of food a few hours later. They let her be discharged last evening .Steph went straight from there to her dad's hospital room . He is one block from where Pyper was,so she spent a few hours with him before heading home . He had another really bad spell last night. Not surre whats up . He's our age and looks like he is 30 . Very young looking and trim and slim.Never had any health disorders before . Sure hope he's ok. Steph is so very close woth her dad .

Cam came here and stayed the night. I'll be getting him up to school this AM .He did his homework and watched some videos .He seemed to be feeling ok last night .

So, everything seems to be better for Steph today other than her dad. It sounds pretty scarey . Not sure yet what it is . They did an MRI on his brain and neck .They think he could possible have some blood clot issues or some such thing like that .

Not much else new that I can think of ,other than we got S N O W yesterday . Not a lot, just barely enough to cover the grass but it's supposed to be 60 by Saturday,so its shaping back up .

Will check in later .

Good morning

Val- Prayers being said for Betty. Glad you made it back and forth from GA to AL safely- that must have been a long day doing that trek in one day yesterday.

Julie- Good news about Pyper and prayers continuing for Steph's Dad. Hope they figure out what it is that is causing the dizzy spells. I'm sure it was a relief for Steph knowing that Cam was in good hands with you and Sam! That was surely one load off her mind!!! Wow- SNOW in April? Not unheard of, but the weather is odd. We didn't get the rain that was promised, and sure could use some. This weekend I believe is supposed to be in the high 70's!

Marisa- Thinking about you and hope you had an uneventful trek to your Mom and Dad's and that you enjoyed your pedicure and Pizza hut night.

Sending a good morning hi to Judy, Marlene, Mary, Linda, Cindy, Mary, Tab, Faille, and the rest of the house

'morning, peeps!

Hi Jude

Hows your tooth feeling today ?

Not too bad - achy, not hurting. Turns out I bruised the entire area and should not eat on that side. I need to go to a soft diet as much as possible so that side rests. I guess bagels are out for a while:lol

Well, Pyper made it through her surgery and was up eating a trayful of food a few hours later. They let her be discharged last evening That's good news!.Steph went straight from there to her dad's hospital room . Snow...what's that?:lol:lol:lol

I'm sure Judy would LOVE some company making saltines!!!

Oh, yes:devil

I stopped by to see my GS after work and before my hair cut/color appointment. It was just the boost I needed- that smile and laugh just warm my heart! Got my hair cut a little shorter and I like the way the natural waves are falling. We'll see how it is in the AM!!

Off I go for a little relaxation time with hook and yarn before calling it a night!

Shorter is good - it's not weighed down...is it jaw lenth?

Joanne, you'll appreciate what we just learned about our health insurance yesterday.

We've had the same PPO for a few years now, and saw (in big print in the 2 page flyer that we got) that this was staying the same for 2012 when open season came around.

NOT.

It has changed to an Open Access Plus Network!

Meaning I now must call my doctors and make sure they are still on it and willing to accept the small pittance they're paid under this HMO-type system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This info was buried in the middle of a paragraph on page 9 of their brochure - only available online unless you request a hard copy - if you can get one at all!:angry:angry:angry:angry

TG hubby is already on Medicare as primary.....

OK...rant over...for now....

Good morning all. John and Kim are in Gainesville for her heart cath. If they are on schedule, then they should be about to start the procedure. Should hear something when it's over in an hour or two.

Well, Pyper made it through her surgery and was up eating a trayful of food a few hours later. They let her be discharged last evening . Hi folks

Jude

I know what you mean about insurance . Very frustrating ! Every year, they charge more and cover less,so more out of pocket for us . We had one year where we had to clear our doctor before being allowed to go to them ,so in other words, they had a list of docs they'd work with, and if you chose one that wasn't on their list, you had to pay a bigger chunk. It's still like that actually, we have the 80/20 plan, but if we go out of network it's 60/40 . I only had one doc that was out of network ,but they thankfully switched over to it so my payments aren't any higher ,since I have so many specialists and meds .

The rheumatologist last year was out of network ,which we didnt even know til too late . I should have checked it ahead of time, but didnt,so we owed a HEFTY piece of money on that one, also it was the beginning of the year so we hadnt yet met our copay either . BAD .

I know how frustrating this all gets . Sure wish some3one in power could get this system straightened out .

Linda

Glad John took Kim today so you didnt have that to deal with. Maybe it'll give you a few extra hours to gather more of your own stuff up ,ready for a move . Each day brings it a little closer !

Joanne

Yea, we get weird weather here sometimes . A long time ago, we lived next door to my Latin teacher from high school. She was REALLY old . She said one year it snowed on her dad's birthday, which was MAY 5TH !!! I've never seen it snow here that late, but it's a grab bag in April --we can get sun, clouds, wind, rain, snow, sleet, hail, ice, heat ..you name it ,all in one day sometimes . It's kinda like the wetaher gets mixed up and doesnt know what to do .

Faile

How you coming with your latest hobbies ? Sounds like you are branching out into other territory now .

Gael, Kim's caregiver before the last one is spending several days with us and is helping with some of the packing and can sit with Kim while I do some of the sorting, etc. She's got a bad back, so can't help with the lifting, but did get the material packed up for me earlier today, so that's one more step in the right direction.

Kim came through the procedure today in fine shape. They only found some minor cholesterol blockage so didn't need the stent put in. That means they'll be home later this afternoon. Good news for sure.

Hello everyone :)

Just a quick stop to say hello and let you know that I'm at my parents. We're having a heck of a day so I didn't get a chance to catch up on reading posts.

I'll try to check back later or tomorrow sometime.

Rant away- health insurance is doing that all over! Alot of the self-funded plans where I work have gone to Open access networks- and alot of the docs are in both the PPO and Open Access or POS (point of service) network. Your insurance co should have an online directory of providers and you shouldn't have to call them to see if they are in that network too. I have an Open Access plan to and all my docs (and Hubby's docs) are in the network! And all the hospitals around here too!!

My hair is about jaw length now- maybe a tad longer? I like it and will keep it like this for a while now

Marisa- Thanks for posting to let us know you are safe and sound at your parents.

Had a very long day and getting ready to settle in with the hook and yarn for a little de-stressing!

Hugs to you all!

Quick hello from me again. Internet was down much of yesterday, and again for most of today. Might have to make some phone calls......

I guess it didn't matter much today, as we went to Canada for an appointment with my parents attorney, regarding settling their estate. I think it will be quite a long time before it is settles actually, the wheels of the law seem to turn very slowly!

Anyhow, I have to work tomorrow and I have a few things to do before I can go to sleep. so off I go....

Hello all,

I've had computer problems today as well.

Julie - Praying that Steph's gets some relief and her loved ones get better soon.

Cindy - My dad's estate is still in probate. We had issues with his wife and everything is dragging.

Sending happy thoughts to all my housemates!

Good morning and Happy Friday!

Cindy- Glad you popped in despite the internet troubles. Good luck with the settling of the estate and hope it doesn't drag out too long. Of course I know zip about Canadian law and how that goes. We were fairly lucky I suppose after my Dad died and we had to sell the house and everything- it went along fairly quickly- and the house sold quickly- and over asking price- but the real estate market was good then. How is your sis-in-law doing?

Julie- How's Steph's Dad doing? Keeping him in my thoughts and prayers.:hug

Linda- Glad you went to your Prayer Shawl ministry and that Kim is back home. Don't work too hard, despite what the "drill sargeant" says!;)

Val-Hope your computer problems are fixed today and sending happy thoughts right back at you!

Judy- Enjoy the Yankee home opener game today. I'll be listening to the end of it on my drive home. Not sure how Koroda (sp?) will do on his first outing under the microscope of the NY crowd and media!:lol

Mary- Any Luke plans today?

I'm heading over to DD's after work and we're going to watch the Devils hockey game and DH will join me there. Have a great day!!!

oh, and lest I forget- TGIF!!!:clap

Morning ladies

Marisa

Enjoy your weekend coming up --as I know you will .

Val

When is your next trip back home, do you know yet ?

Joanne

Whats up with you for the weekend ?

Jude

Hope you get something done regarding the insurance /doctors . It's certainly a worry ,how the rules of health care have changed in every instance. Not just the billing, but the level of care, etc. I dont know how it is in other places but in our area, one company is buying up all the hospitals in our area ,and they are cutting personnel, but making the buildings fancier . I'd rather have good care and an ordinary room .

Linda

I'm glad they got Kim's test done and it was ok ,and that this other lady stepped in to help some yesterday .

Mary

Whatcha got going for the weekend ? Luke coming again ,or yardwork or both ?

Cindy

That's aggravating when the internet is on the blink, isnt it ? Hope they figure it out and get it repaired .

The legal stuff regarding your parents probably does take awhile to complete . I dont know much about it ,but hopefully all will go smoothly and it'll be done and over with soon .

As for Steph's situation,

Pyper is well and bouncing right back as only a 2 year old can . Cam was here til about 7 last night . He said he will be here tonite after school again .

Stephs dad got discharged last night. He has 3 separate issues going on . They found a small "shadow" in his brain, which they think is old . He needs to see a neurologist for a followup to see if he wants to do anything with it, or just monitor it to see if it changes in size.

They also said he has a bad disc or something in the back of his neck that is pressing on his nerve,so he needs to see a doc for that. They said they also think he has some type of issue going on in his inner ear that is causing the extreme dizziness . Steph brought him home to her house last night to make sure he's ok . He's divorced and lives alone (about 45 minutes away) ,so she didnt want to drop him at an empty house in case he gets sick again .

Not much else new here . Looks like another ordinary weekend .

Hope you all are doing well . :)

By the way

Forgot to ask the Nook owners if you have seen they are coming out with a Nook with a lightup function in it ? It doesnt light up like the Fire or tablets do, it has some other type of lightup technology . Looks SO cool. Of course Sam had to send me the link all about it in an email . I told him he shouldnt do that. It's like setting a cake in front of me and handing me a fork .

I told him I only have TWO eyeballs, and 3 eReaders and I really don't need another . BUT, he said he thought I might want one of THESE .

UUuuuuuhhhh..... yea, I WOULD want one,but do I NEED one ? NOPE .

Good morning ladies :hi

I'm sure I've missed something from not reading posts yesterday and I'm still not caught up. So I'm sorry if there's something in there that I really should reply to :hug

I got in Wed afternoon and went to the neighbors for a pedicure, then we went to pizza hut. Ran to the mall, I wanted to see if our JCP had the dress I like in my size. I was surprised they had the dress, just not the size I needed :shrug So I went into another store and they were having a grand reopening of buy one get one half off, so I got 2 dresses. One to wear to the wedding and just a fun summery one. Then I got a pair of flats and a pair of flip flops at payless.

Yesterday just ended up being a crazy day. I woke up at 5:30 unable to go back to sleep. I had a dream about my brother and then couldn't get myself to stop crying from the absurdity of him and being back at his tricks. When my mom tells me of things he does, I really try not to keep complaining because then she keeps going and it really upsets her. So then I came downstairs after about an hour and a half and layed on the couch with the tv on. I had a dentist appt at 10 and woke up 9:50 :eek My mom was happy I was getting sleep (I didn't tell her WHY I couldn't fall back to sleep) and didn't want to wake me but forgot about the appt :lol So, we ran ALL day from then :whew

On the upside, my friend from Colorado made it safely although her plane was a bit delayed, but that really just gave us the little extra time we needed to stop running around with our heads cut off :rofl We stopped by our other friend's office for a quick hello and then something to eat. Made it home around 8.

As for my brother and just because I need to vent a bit....I guess they didn't do anything baskets or eggs/hunts for the kids for Easter. Anyways, the kids called my mom on the ipad in the morning all excited to show them their outfits (that she bought and sent out) and my bro came in and yelled at them that he didn't give them permission to use the ipad and call, took it away told my mom they didn't have permission to call and they had to go and hung up!!!! No good bye, no I'll talk to ya later, no nothing!!! She had since got some pics in email of them in their clothes, but she has not heard from them on the phone since :( I just hate seeing her so upset and he was not raised to treat anyone that way, let alone her :angry She does everything for them that she can. She buys all the clothes for all 4 kids and ships them out there. On top of that, their 10 year anniversary is next weekend and my mom usually sends them a gift card for dinner since they can't afford to eat out. I guess he asked my dad if they were doing that again or can he get something else because he wants some kind of blade for his blender thing :think My mom is even more ****** that he would even ask and she says she just sending him a card with nothing in it like the kids got for easter. This has been ongoing for quite some time and she can only take so much, I think she's approaching that point. She actually said at pizza hut that she like him better back when he was a pothead!!!! :rofl Never thought THOSE words would come out her mouth!

OK, well sorry to be MIA and then come in and vent, but I need to get some off my chest since I try not too keep her going. Wait til I get back and fill my sister in :sigh

Some errands on deck for today. Mom's feeding the 3 of us and then we'll head to NJ later on. We're meeting our friends after the rehearsal dinner, so around 9 :clap I'm so excited, I actually cried at the airport when we picked up my friend. We were always best friends in school and I haven't seen her in about 2 years.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I'm not sure if I'll make it back the rest of the weekend but if I do, it won't be until Sunday night at the earliest :think

I love you ladies :hug

Good morning all. I woke up yesterday with an extremely sore wrist which bugged me all day yesterday and was limiting in how much I was able to lift with the boxes and stuff. One of the ladies last night said that I my have pulled something on Monday that just showed up Thursday as that's about how long it takes for the swelling to show up. That was the day Carol, Rosie, and I did all that stuff of John's. Sigh! :sigh:grumpy:sigh Gael's help was somewhat sporadic yesterday. She also has a bad back so couldn't lift any of the boxes. :blush And she is a MUCH poorer packer than I am. Soooo this weekend she will be watching Kim in between times to do things for her and I'll sort and pack during those times and come back upstairs to do things for Kim when it's time for that. Sounds like an awfully hectic weekend I'm afraid. Anyway I bought more boxes and bubble wrap last night while I was out. John said she could have Kim up front and clean the counters and cabinets while I'm busy downstairs. :D Wonder how long that will take her? And how well she'll do at it? She's offered to be Kim's caregiver for a year after I leave, but that's going to depend on a lot of factors. Like: 1) Can she actually control her drinking? She's been treated for alcoholism multiple times and she's NOT a pretty drunk. Yesterday she had a LARGE goblet of wine and downed it in 20 minutes. At least she asked about it first instead of just doing it. 2) Is she physically capable of caring for Kim with her bad back? When Kim is wobbly it takes strength to walk her safely to the bathroom and back to the care and when John's gone over night she has to be lifted into bed, all 120 pounds of her. A lot more than the boxes she couldn't lift yesterday. 3) Is she stable enough to be reliable? That's a biggy and I have my doubts.

I guess time will tell on all of this.

As for Steph's situation,

Pyper is well and bouncing right back as only a 2 year old can . Cam was here til about 7 last night . He said he will be here tonite after school again .

Sounds like things are settling down a bit for Steph which is good.

Oh good grief! Your poor mom.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your time with family and friends.

Good Morning, House. :) Just a quick post for now - I was gone most of yesterday and will be today, too. Not a real emergency...just more of the same. :ohdear

We should be home all weekend, so I promise to catch up!

Linda ~ While I keep saying that John needs to get some help for you, I'm not sure this sounds like help! :wink:hug

Take care, everyone...and have a good day! :manyheart

Hi guys

Another check in after a SUPPOSED quick trip to the bank, which turned into being gone all morning. I usually end up wandering off, stop one plac,e then another, then ramble on home HOURS later . It's kinda nice being able to do that with no one to complain or wonder where I am . :D

I stopped at a couple yard sales .Found Cam an X-Box and 83 games for 10 bucks. A guy had a video store, and closed it down so is trying to get rid of the stuff instead of storing it. Sam can hook it up tonite and hopefully it works-- the guy said everything works ,his wife doesnt want the house crammed full of all this stuff so he has to unload it .

I'm so sorry your brother is causing so much grief to your family and especially your mom. I understand completely, believe me . We have so many family problems . Our son (Cam's dad ) hasnt spoken in over 6 years now .WE have no clue where he is, if he is alive ,how he is surviving ,nothing. He isnt in contact with anyone else we know, so we dont have any way of locating him. He could be dead and we 'd never know . Steph used to get hassled by him ,but even that has died down. He started in on her this past year and threatened to come take Cam after school one night ,and none of us would ever see him again. He really doesnt WANT Cam and has no clue how to take care of him. He can't take care of himself ,but he'd do it for spite .

It makes me so sad to hear how your mom's heart is breaking over your brother's actions. I sure wish I could tell her that I feel her pain and wish I could offer her some advice, but I need some too, because I am clueless how to deal with things like this .

we've had lots of other family issues too,so they pretty much cover any territory. I literally have to keep my mind on other stuff constantly ,or I'd fall apart every day .

Mary

Hope all is well with you. :hug

CAUTION !!!! I think I can see a little bit of the stunt John is pulling on you. Don't fall for it !!

He intentionally has the old caregiver there who is a drinker ( to put it mildly) . He thinks you will feel sorry for Kim, realize she wont be given good care, and cave in and offer to stay,or go with them or whatever . PLEASE don't let him trick you into this. He's playing a diirty rotten game with you all.

This situation bugs me.. he's got these ladies all doing his packing for him, which is ridiculous. I think HE should be doing it,or getting some friends to help him ,or hiring a moving company to do it. He'd rather make a bunch lf ladies do it so he can control you all .

Take it easy with your wrist -- you dont wanna end up with a bum arm when you get a chance to do your crafts again .

Sure will be glad when you are outta there . I know it'll be hard to separate your feelings for Kim ,and step out of it,wondering if she will be cared for properly, but somehow you have to mentally tell yourself that you gave her top notch care while it was your job. It will no longer BE your job,so lay it in John's lap and let him take it from here .

Jude

I agree about the lighted Nook. I really dont need one,but I bet Sam would buy me one without blinking an eye. We have WAY too many medical bills right now to even think about it .

Well, off I go, gotta get my stuff put away from shopping this AM .

Hi, peeps!

Marisa, I'm sorry your mom has to go through this with your brother - it sounds like the pendulum swung from one extreme to the other with him.:hug:manyheart

Exactly! :yes

Please take it easy and I agree with Julie, beware! :eek It doesn't sound like you have help, but instead another person to watch :(

Awesome find :h5 And thanks :hug

NOPE .

Hmm, I hadn't seen that, (and I only have three e-readers so I certainly need another one..........)

Well, our internet was down much of the day again. Dh finally called them and they came out and installed a new modem. Hopefully that will fix it.

I did catch up on posts, but no time to converse today. Its one fo the grandsons birthdays and we are going over there.

Hopefully the internet keeps working and tomorrow I can be back to my usual activity!
