Hi guys

FINALLY home from the Doc. Good grief, a 3 hour event is about 4 hours too long .

It was in one of these huge complexes that has the docs, therapy, lab, xray , you name it,all in one huge place ,so after the L O N G Doc appt, she sent me for bloodwork , xray, and PIAC (pee in a cup) .

So by the time you get done waiting, getting one thing done, waiting, getting another done, waiting, .... 3 hour event .

I am beat .

Now comes the harder part .Wait 3 weeks for more lab results. I am NOT a good WAITER . Drives me insane .

SO... I may have done something stupid, but I got down there 30 minutes early because I hadnt been there before and wanted to make sure I didnt get lost .

What did my wandering eyes see across the road ? A Catan's !!! Not sure if they are all over or just our general neck of the woods. We have another one about 45 minutes in the other direction .

So even though I am ATTEMPTING to keep myself on a yarn diet since it drives my breathing batty , Sorry folks, I ouldnt resist. They had some yarn there that I have never seen before ! All kinds of pretty colors and types ,so I picked up some Caron pounders-- that yarn always FEELS different to me,not scrapey or fuzzy,so thought I'd give it a whirl .

Then I got one big ball of a new kind (to me) called The Palette Collection . They had some beautiful colors --all I noticed right off were the variegated so not even sure if they had others ...I only got one big ball of it to try it out .

They had several others that I have never seen, but didnt wanna go too hog wild .Will try a new one here and there to see how they work, No sense in bringing home 20 kinds and none of it works, so will do a couple at a time.

Have another appt down there in 3 weeks, so can possibly pick up on a few others next time .....

DANG,this no yarn stuff is a killer . I didnt have time to look for anything else craft-wise,so will save that for something FUN next time I have to go down there .

Keep your fingers crossed that some of this will work . They even had SCENTED huge balls of cotton --like the dishcloth stuff ? I dont know what the s cents were, they were in plastic, but thought they would be a REAL bad idea for me .

So that is my day.Really long, really stressful, and wait 3 weeks. I am hanging on by my fingernails to stay calm .

* By the way, they took TEN tubes of blood, but there were 21 tests ordered on it .

Will check in later if I have the steam .... pizza for supper .Dial the phone, and here it comes !

Jules...I know - the waiting is murder! At least that part's done now:hug

The yarn sounds wonderful - and I never heard of that place before....I hope you can use some of it.

Finally home from work. I'm getting tired of being insanely busy. Hope the H1N1 season is over soon! Many of our super sick patients have it.

Julie, glad the doctor visit is over. Of course I think waiting is just as hard, or harder. Fingers crossed that one of those yarns works out for you. have you tried the mask idea yet? I like Caron pounders, inexpensive and a lot softer than Red Heart SS. I've never heard of that other yarn you mentioned.

Mary, hope you had a fun day with Luke today.

Linda, the quilt is looking really good. As for the ten tails to tuck in on every square...that's so not for me. You go, girl!!

Marisa, enjoy your game tonight. Banana bread sounds yummy. I haven't made that in ages.

Kiyo, hope that sore throat is better soon.

To everyone else...hi....

Hi all,

Linda- The quilt is looking so good!!!!!:clap:clap:clap

Julie- We don't have Catan's around here, but I do like the Caron Pounders- and they do seem less fuzzy than some of the other yarns. I haven't heard of the other one so maybe you can have Sam take a pic of it? I would try the mask thing too, it may make a difference. We'll be here waiting with you- that IS the hard part!!!:hug How was your pizza?

Tammy- I'll take a progress pic on Friday---or maybe it'll be done by then?? Glad to hear that Michael's on the tail end of his prednizone regimen! Continued prayers for your DH!!!:hug

Mary 1- Did you have fun with Luke today?

Judy- Did you hook or nook?

Cindy- one more day to go and you are off!! Hold onto that thought. And BTW, your doilyghan is coming along great- it's really pretty!

Marisa- I'm watching the Knicks tonight- with all the hype about Carmelo Anthony and Billups now on the Knicks- the Garden has the atmosphere I remember when my Dad used to take me to Knicks game when I was a teen- electric!! Hope you are having fun at the Sixers game

I was busy today at work- and the time flew by- and then had a nice relaxing time at the salon. Wanted to check in and now I have to go grab something to eat!!

Cheeria- :hug:hug:hug

To ALL my housemates- have a good rest of the evening!

Hi everyone, just stopping by to say hello and to let the house know that I'm okay and I'm dealing with the situation that hit us. Yesterday I did go to Atlantic City with my extended sister who recently lost her DH. By the time we reach Atlantic City I must say I was in a better frame of mind and the tension headache that was my constant companion during the week-end and monday seem to fade away. I guess when a person remove themselves from certain situation this is what happens, out of sight out of mind. I wish I can say we won but those machine just te our money like it was candy. I can feel the grumby spin button worming it self into my pocket to make sure I had not one dollar left. :eek One machine we played together was this huge giant dollar slot machine, I mean it was so huge that we both look at it with awe and it was hard leaving it behind. The spining cheeries, number 7's and vasrious other components of that huge machine stood in our minds even when we were on our way home on the bus. Just thinking about it bring a smile to my face. We hit three casinos and all with the same results, the machines where holding their hands out saying give me your money. :lol:lol:lol Well I'm tired now and I need to rest and get ready for the little darlings tomorrow. Thanks for being here for me house family. Just knowing there is someone to run to when things are happening in ones home or life is a big help especially when a person have to deal with all of life ups and down alone.

I am sorry those pesky machines stole your money :lol BUT I am happy to hear that you had a good time & was able to put your stress behind you for a bit. Sometimes walking away from a stressful situation for a moment is helpful, so good for you getting out & having some fun!! :hug

Good morning ladies

Cindy

I hope work quiets down soon . Maybe if the weather ever starts warming up,some of that flu will finally go away . Last time I went to my doc, you could hear people coughing in every room, and out in the waiting room. they were swamped that day, both docs working ,and nonstop coughing people coming in .

Linda

So far, your quilt looks good . Really hard to tell yet what the picture will be,but it's like watching a jigsaw puzzle come to life,we get to see little bits at a time .

By the way, you have probably seen this website : fabric.com --WOW,do they have TONS of material, every color and design you can think of. I dont know how good a deal it is,because I dont buy it, but they sure have some pretty ones .

Peaches

Are you making one big hexagon, or a bunch of small ones put together ?

Tam

Hi there ,little missie ! How are things going for you ? Betcha got at least one more afghan complete sine you were here last ! Speedy !

Hi Jude

What are you currently working on ? Is it another baby rr ? Sorry , I think you mentioned it but can't remember colors, etc ?

Did you get your pup out for a walk ? I bet he is pretty doggone hard to hold onto if another dog is waling down the street ! He probably walks YOU .

Kiyo

Whatcha up to out there ? Keeping them trucks in line and on the road ?

Cheeria

I'm glad your trip seemed to help you out a little by getting away for the day. I would do the same if I ever went to one of them slot machine places, lose my money . I have never been there or out to Las Vegas ,and probably never will get out there .I think it'd be so pretty at them places at night with all the lights .

Hope the problems at home get better soon .

Hiya Tab !

Good to see you posting -- keep it up if possible. I know it's hard sometimes when life is dropping crap into your lap, (hey, it rhymed ! ),but if you can somehow make it a part of your daily routine ,then it's easier to keep dropping in . I know how life can get to you sometimes ,and you need to step back .And I would LOVE to have you for a neighbor .

Hi Mary2

Sounds like we both had the same idea for supper -- pizza. Really easy, not many dishes, etc ... Good thing to have on nights you dont wanna cook, which is lots of them for me !

Joanne

How's it coming with getting all the grandbaby items rounded up ? Are you planning a baby shower, or someone else having one ? Bet she will have everything needed in plenty of time ! Have they started thinking of names yet ?

Marisa

Did you get the chance to start the knit sweater yet ? Can't wait to see how it turns out !

Mary1

Is Luke keeping you hopping now ? Once they start learning how to scoot around the room, it becomes a little harder to keep up with them ,but fun to watch them learning new things. sure miss those days with Cam ! Wish you could bottle them up and save them somehow .

A shout out to everyone else I missed. I'm sure I missed a lot ,but my old brain isnt as slick as it once was, and waking up at 3:30 AM doesnt help the situation !

Hope you all have a good day !

Hi ladies

Since we all live in different areas of the country, I thought it might be neat to hear what it looks like in your neighborhood,or state .

Let's PRETEND the snow is gone all over, and we all have a nice spring /summer day out our window .

Describe your town or area you live in so we can all "see" in our minds what it looks like from YOUR part of the world.:

Good morning!

I wish I could say that I have this amazing view when I look out my windows! I do have a pretty tree in the front yard so when I am sitting in the family room and look out the front window I see that and I love it in spring when it is starting to bud, and summer when it provides shade, and in fall with it's yellow color. Winter- well, bare branches unless they are covered in snow! When I look out the patio door, I see my deck and pool. I would LOVE to say that when I look out my window I can see and hear the ocean waves!. Or the quiet calmness of the bay. My town is typical suburbia - lots of developments of the same houses, with a smattering of unique, older homes. On the main roads, you have your strip malls, on the major roads you have traffic! (peak hours).:lol

Cheeria- Loved reading your post about how the machines had their hands out for your money!! I'll bet it was good to be together for the day with your extended sister- even if the machines won! I'm not big on gambling, but the few times I've gone to AC, I only bring a set amt of $ to play with- when it's gone it's gone- and that is usually what happens- it's gone! Keeping you in my prayers for strength to guide you during your difficult times.:hug

Tab- Great to see you post and I love your siggy!

Julie- I was up at 4:00 today- wide awake!!! No use even trying to fall back asleep- cause if I did, it would probably be about 5 minutes before I HAD to get up and then I'd feel 10X worse.

I'm imagining myself having my cup of coffee as I look out my window and see the ocean waves--------

BBL after another day in Paradise:hug:hug:hug:hug:hug

Hi Joanne

Hope your day at work goes smoothly . At least you ladies over in that area are a short distance to a beach. The closest thing we have to a beach is a creek outside of town that dries up part of the year ,and a small pond at the cemetery .

The view from our window isn't very exciting either. We live close to a corner,so one of the busiest streets in town is around the corner from us,but the main time it is busy is when school is ready to start, or ending for the day .Lots of people picking up or dropping off kids .

All the schools in our town will soon be located right up behind us . The elementary where I attended is one block behind us,and where Cam goes now, but they recently renovated it and added on,so it is a beautiful fancy school now .

They are building a huge complex in the field right behind Cam's school which will house the new middle school, then the high school is right up behind that,so they will all be a huge complex 0f buildings . The HS baseball fields are right behind us too,so in spring and early summer, you can hear the crack of the balls when the boys hit them .

Our town water tower is also right beside Cam's school,so we have a perfect view of it,painted white with our town name and a flag painted on it .

We have one big tree in the front ,and 2 smaller ones -- one side of the yard has a wooden fence ,the other ,we planted small bushes to try to make a dividing line between us and the neighbors .

We arent too well aquainted with any of the neighbors, although we have lived on this street for about 8 years now . The people on our street arent overly friendly . Some may wave when they drive past, some dont ... Not an overly friendly street ,but it's quiet .

We have a real nosey old lady right behind us who watches us all like we are setting up meth labs or growing marijuana plants. She knows or WANTS to know all of everyone's business .

Right beside her is one of the teachers who taught at Cam's school back when our kids went there .

If you go our to our corner and down the hill, you will see our town library which is about 3 minutes down the hill . It is the 2nd busiest library in the county, which is surprising ,but maybe because it is so boring here ,not much else to entertain people .

Our Main street is downright pathetic. It used to be a neat little place when I was growing up,but most of the businesses have shut down,so lots of empty little stores .We have an auto part store ,flower shop ,and a gun store ( our newest business) ,which will be there til the first month's rent is due. Don't think there's much need for guns in our town .

Our town prefers BUTTER by the stick, toilet paper ,or the old standby : a brown paper sack,a scoop of dog manure and a match .

We have a grocery, which is only for emergencies, and dont forget to wear your glasses to check the DATES and look for mold . They are VERY expensive,so rarely sell items ,which leads to mold ,or possibly a real thick layer of dust on the canned goods .

I shop the next town over .

SO...thats what our neck of the woods is like . boring, but my home for 53 years ...

Good morning ladies :hi

Well, my sixers won last night :clap:yay They started off a little rocky in the first quarter but then slowly picked up a bit. I finished my sisters hook case, which I'll post in a minute (I also snapped a pic of the yarn I got for Maryann to share). Only 2 days left for the work week :whew

Judy - How did your walk with Sparkie go after all the 'competition' was off the road? :lol

Mary1 - There's still time for you to make it out to a Mav's game :devil

Linda - The first strip of the quilt it beautiful and WTG with those stockings :cheer :cheer

Tam - I didn't start the sweater yet :blush I'm hoping on sunday after getting back from my parents :think

Kiyo - Glad you had a good bday and your throat is no longer swollen, but if it's still burning you better get that badorkus to the dr!!!!! If it is strep, you want the antibiotic AND you don't want to spread it around :soap

Julie - Sounds like the dr appt went fairly well albeit long :( We're here to wait with you :sigh You deserve the pizza and the yarn :yes I also like the caron pounders and haven't heard of the palette one, but googled it and there does seem to be some really pretty choices.

Peaches - Green is my favorite color and I love it with purple, have fun with your hexagons :D

Cindy - Almost to the weekend :cheer :cheer

Joanne - I must say I was surprised when I saw the Knicks got Carmello :think I didn't see that one coming :lol But I can definitely see why MSG is lighting up over it :yay

Cheeria - I'm glad you got some 'therapy' in AC, look on the bright side. You probably spent the same amount on your therapy and had alot more fun in the process :lol What casinos did you go to? I like Caesar's best :yes

Tab - Thanks on the yarn, it 'called' out to me in the store

mary2 - sometimes our projects tell us they want to be for someone else instead of the original intended recipient :think:yes

Wrennie - How come such a longer trip today?

I'll be back in a bit, after my workout and shower ;)

Morning everyone! Long day at work yesterday and then lay down for a while and didn't get to drop in to say hello. So with :coffee in hand, I'm checking in this morning.

Have doctor appt for blood draw today. One of the ladies from the church will pick me up. Gives my sister a break. We will go to Big Lots and lunch and dr. appt and possibly Wally World. No work for me today.

Will check in later.

John's mom is in the hospital now. She went in over the weekend, but seems to be doing fairly well now. Not sure just what is going on, but would appreciate if you'd keep her in your prayers. Her heart isn't real good.

Prayers going up for John's Mom

lady's night at church tonight. I made a divine hat to take to give away! It turned out really nice. Used Brett C Marble yarn. I LOVE that stuff...

I love that pattern and have made one for me and several in the baby size for the Lil Troopers donation box. Pretty yarn that I too nave never heard of.

Kiyo a belated :birthday

Loud noise, when I used to live in FL and heard/felt the sonic booms of the shuttle landing. Knew they were back safe and sound.

Out my window, mountains, fields of hay, flowers of all sorts and behind the house and down a hill a large creek where the deer bed at night time.
