Retro Bat-wing Sweater

CascadeConsumer

Question

What a simple and attractive retro sweater! Again, this is from the vintage crochet site.

But, my God... this sweater is done practically entirely in slip stitch!

Can that be accurate? Or is this another case of an antiquated crochet term? Maybe they mean single crochet? But I don't think so, because single crochets are referred to a few times, for increases... but the main body seems to be all slip stitch. Yikes! :(

Below is what the pattern calls for.

Size "G" crochet hook is self-evident but what is a "wooden crochet hook #13" ??

And what kind of modern yarn would I use?

Thanks!! :cheer

I took a look at the pattern and was wondering if the change to a size 13 was to make that section a bit larger. Is it possible, the size 13 hook makes the bust?

I just took a look at it again....

I think you'll just need to work the gauge swatch and try to come up with the same size swatch, adjusting your hook as necessary.

Judging by the swatch size, the size 13 is just a little bigger than the G hook. I think I would try an H first, if I were you. If that's still too small, go to an I hook, etc.

Good luck!
