You probably already know Cheri, who designs beautiful snowflake patterns. (She offers the patterns free at http://sites.google.com/site/cheriscrochet/home )

She made an orchid for our April Crochet Along and here it is! She used a double strand of No. 10 crochet cotton.

So pretty!

When my cousin saw the Oval Center Rose (pages 28-29 of Crochet Bouquet), she asked, "Does it really look like that, or is this picture taken at an angle?"

It really looks like that. It's off-center, and I think it looks a lot like some of the folk-art roses you see on chinaware and other decorative objects.

Once I memorized the pattern, I could churn these out pretty quickly.

Have fun, and post here if you have questions!

Luckily, our small-town fireworks display is still happening on July 4th. So many towns in dried-up Texas have cancelled or forbidden fireworks this year for fear of fire.

The "Circles within Circles" flower on pages 22-23 of Crochet Bouquet reminds me of fireworks, so let's make that our July Crochet Bouquet-Along flower!

I know it's late, but there's still time for a Flower CAL in October. This month our flower is the Sunflower on pages 71-72 of Crochet Bouquet. It isn't difficult--just the same one petal over and over--it just takes a while.

Look for some in-progress photos of the Sunflower at http://www.textilefusion.com/bookblog/?p=500

Have fun!

Finally, another flower crochet-along!

For April 2012, I chose the Topsy Turvy #2 flower from Crochet Bouquet. I rarely see it made online, so thought it was time to draw attention to this cute flower.

It has lots of variations (large, small, picots, no picots, topsy, or turvy).

Step-by-step photos and hints are at http://www.textilefusion.com/bookblog/?p=558

Have fun!

Thanks to Lion Brand Yarn Company, you can participate in this month's Flower Crochet-Along without having to own a book!

Lion Brand is show-casing a few flowers from Crochet Garden: Bunches of Flowers, Leaves, and Other Delights. The first is the European Rose, which is our Flower Crochet-Along for this month.

Find the instructions for the European Rose at the link below, as well as step-by-step photos and hints.

Please join me for a Curly Ray Sunflower Crochet Along! It will run until about mid-September 2012. Find instructions on pages 54-55 of Crochet Garden: Bunches of Flowers, Leaves, and Other Delights.

Curly Ray Sunflower has pretty curled petals that are joined as you crochet. The joining can be a little tricky, so I have posted some step-by-step photos at my book blog, http://www.textilefusion.com/bookblog/?p=675

I'm also giving away three Curly Ray Sunflowers! More information at the post listed above. Enter by midnight (CST) September 1, 2012.

Yay!

I got behind on the Flower a Month CAL!  I have a good excuse though--we were building a house.  I mean building it with our own muscles.  It was a lot of work.

Anyway, with Halloween looming in a couple of days, how about crocheting some Candy Cornflowers?

The pattern is on pages 124-125 of Crochet Garden: Flowers, Leaves, and Other Delights.

I posted step-by-step photos on my blog at http://www.textilefusion.com/bookblog/?p=728, along with improvements to the pattern.

Hope you enjoy!
