unexpected impromptu lesson in crochet

Recommended Posts

I was finishing up the scarves I've been doing for what seems ages in the Dr.s office waiting for my daughter.

A lady ohhh and ahhhhed and was watching intently, she said she used to crochet, but couldn't do it anymore because she had a brain injury from a car accident, she had me show her real slowly how to do that,I consider myself a slow crocheter, but for her to concentrate,I really had to pace it like I was just learning the stitch, then she asked if she could do a row,I let her and her smile of satisfaction really made me feel good for the rest of the day

so there are someone else's special stitches incuded in this one scarf

that's very neat! can you imagine what it's like to know you "used" to be able to do something and now you can't---that would be so sad. I wonder if she will be able to remember it now?

I bet you both felt good for the rest of the day!

That was sooooo sweet!

Helping the woman relearn probably did so much to boost her self-esteem and confidence, and that can't be measured.

What a sweet story - I bet she was beyond grateful that you were kind enough to take the time to show her!
