Snuggles Project, Blankies for shelter animals

:catI make (knit, crochet, sew, etc) small blankets, called Snuggles, for my local animal shelter. I make kitty toys too. The Snuggles Project is worldwide. Take a look at the list of shelters registered on their site. There might be one near you.

Just learning to quilt, knit or even crochet? Have a square that didn't turn out 'perfect' for your project? A homeless cat or dog wont care if a stitch or seam is off, as long as it gives them a warm place to snuggle. :dog

Snuggles make the shelters look and feel more homey. Animals are more at ease when visitors are more at ease. This makes for better matching and better adoption results.

 

With the added bonus of love stitched into each and every Snuggle, good things can happen.

THIS is an excellent charity, I have made many a trip to the somewhat local no kill animal shelter in a town nearby. The gal that runs it, LOVES to receive my snugglies, and when dirty she takes them home to wash herself, as doesn't trust them to the laundry service, ha ha. They are much appreciated, specifically for the "cat" room here in the shelter!

Thank you for posting this. I'm going to pass on the information to a friend that works with forever home pet group. I think they would really like this as all the animals are in foster homes.
