The square was scanned in two parts and then put together for a picture.
(Don't have a digital camera)

There's a graph at the end of the pattern to help if you have any problems.

Materials:

Worsted Weight Yarn
Size H hook (5.00mm)
Yarn needle (to weave in ends)

Finish Size: 12”h x 12”w inches

Gauge: 7 dc = about 2” inches
3 Rows of dc = about 2” inches

Notes:

*On Row 1 when you dc in 6th chain from hook this will leave 5 chains free. These 5 chains count as part of starting chain, 1 dc and ch1.

Beginning ch4 counts as dc and ch1 for Rows.

Directions:

Row 1: Ch44, 1 dc in 6th chain from hook, [ch1, skip next chain, 1 dc in next chain] Do this 19 times, ch4 and turn.
(21dc, 20-ch1 spaces)

Row 2: Skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in next st, [1 dc in next ch1 space, 1 dc in next st] Do this 18 times, ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in 4th chain of ch5* (There should be 3 chains left free for corner), ch4 and turn.
(39dc, 2- ch1 spaces)

Row 3: Skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in each of the next 9 sts, ch1, skip next st, 1 dc in each of the next 17 sts, ch1, skip next st, 1 dc in each of the next 9 sts, ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in 3rd chain of beginning ch4, ch4 and turn.

Now you’re going to start working in Rnds for the Border.

Corner Space is where the Ch1 and Row ends meet at the corners.

Border:

Rnd 1: 1 sc in ch1 space, 2 sc in each of the next 18-ch1 spaces, (1 sc, ch3, 3 sc) all in next corner space (ch1/row end), 2 sc in each of the next 16 Row ends, (3 sc, ch3, 1 sc) all in next corner space (row end/ch1), 2 sc in each of the next 18-ch1 spaces, (1 sc, ch3, 3 sc) all in next corner space (ch1/row end), 2 sc in each of the next 16 Row ends, 3 sc in next corner space (same space as first sc), ch3, join with sl st to first sc.
(152sc, 4-ch3 spaces)

Rnd 2: Ch1, 1 sc in same st as joining, 1 sc in each of the next 37 sts, (2 sc, ch2, 2 sc) all in next ch3 space, [1 sc in each of the next 38 sts, (2 sc, ch2, 2 sc) all in next ch3 space] Do this 3 times, join with sl st to first sc.

Finish off and weave in ends.

Thanks for bumping this pattern, I must have missed it the first time around.  It's great she provided a chart as well.

I don't make a lot of blankets, but I'm thinking 1 column of hearts would be great for a scarf (might want to reverse direction mid-way so the ends come out matching), and maybe 2 hearts high by x around for a hat...hmm...
