thick and warm hat for my daughter

I made this hat for my daughter last night after receiving some yarn from someone on freecycle.org. I have no idea what the thick pink yarn is but I picked up the ball and knew I had to make my daughter a hat for this winter out of it. I started the hat just using the thick pink but about 2 rounds in I glanced over at the pile of yarn she had given me and I saw the pink and green ribbon yarn and thought it would look great crocheted with the thick pink and I started over with both. I'm glad I decided to add in the ribbon because I think the flecks of bright color make it more "big girl" than just having that bubblegum pink.

Thanks, I can't wait for it to get closer to winter so she can wear it when we walk to school. Plus it's got some good stretch to it and it even fits my head so I'm hoping she'll wear it for a while. I just wish I knew what kind of yarn the bulky pink was so I knew if I could wash it in the machine. I guess I'll just hand wash to be safe.
