I don't know if there is a name for it -- it's a very common type of doily center. The outer part looks like butterflies made with pineapple wings. You might look for "butterfly doily" or "pineapple butterfly doily". Maybe some one will recognize what book or mag it

is from.

What is the center dezine of this doily called so I can look for this part of the doily? quote]

Are you only looking for the doily part? Did you ask the person selling it?

I wonder if the butterflys were added seperately and not part of that pattern as it reminds me of the vintage star doilies. I checked the yahoo group and saw some things similiar. You might ask there as there are a lot of people who use them.

There is a pattern on eBay called Stat Center Doily that looks like it with a different edging though.

The discription says

Star Center Doily American Thread Co. Star Doily Book No. 137

Edited to say after looking I think it is much bigger though.
