Chain 92,

Row 1…2 dc in 5th ch from hook, 2 dc in next ch,* skip 2, 2 dc in next 2 chs, repeat from * ending with 1 dc in last ch, ch 2 and turn.

 

Row 2…Sk 1* dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, skip 2 dc, repeat from * ending with 1 dc in last dc.

 

 

Do you always add the extra dc in row 2 and it tells you to repeat pattern so is that row 1 and 2 or just row 2

I'm not sure what you mean about adding the extra dc in Row 2. However, in Row 2 when it says "repeat from * that means just in Row 2.

And when at the bottom it says repeat the pattern for a total of 50 rows in means both rows 1 and 2

The pattern is 'bracketed' on each side by a dc, or a turning chain that acts as a dc.

 

Really you will be repeating only row 2. Row 1 is written a little differently because you are working into the initial chain.
