I'm in Potsdam, and was wondering if anybody else was from/in St. Lawrence County!

It would be great to find local crocheters to get together with!!

Once, a few years back when I was passing through on a fishing trip with my dad, and once last summer when I was doing fieldwork on the local rocks. Both times I stayed at the motor lodge.

Nice town.

What kind of fieldwork do you do on rocks? I know a lot of people study the fossils by Sugar river....

I study the fossils from the Middle Ordovician period, about 450 million years ago. This past summer, I was specifically working on the trilobites. However, I did find something cool on the Sugar River. It is called a conulariid, which are thought to have been a kind of primitive jellyfish. How exciting to find something so rare and so complete!

How interesting! As kids, my sister and I would walk the dry bed of the sugar river. I know there were lots of fossils there.

It would have been awesome to work the river when it was dry. It was rainy and high water when I was there!!
