Hi everyone! Having the snow day today gave me the little extra time I needed to get the bookmarkers done for my son to give out to his classmates for Valentines Day :valdayinstead of cards and candy. :jumpyay A little keepsake item for his classmates for being the last year in elementary school. I made several, "League of Alien Nations" and 4 Bookworms for the boys and I made a variety of other bookmarkers for the girls to choose from.:woo

Those are really nice. The alien ones are cute. Did you make that up?

I made some bookworm bookmarks for our oldest sons whole class when he was in kindergarten. I think there were 28 students in the class.

Great work & thanks for sharing. :hook

Thanks everyone.

Mom w/a Motif, the all the patterns were taken off the internet and for "FREE" (free is the way I like it). The Aliens are a real easy pattern that I had gotten off of Naidascrochet site. The link is below.

After all the work to get them done in time for their Friday's party, they didn't have school because of the Nor'easter that we had gotten on Wednesday. They are having a mini vaca this month and they're off from Wed. thru Mon, going back on Tuesday. But that's okay, he can give them out on Tuesday.

I'll just make a couple more so he can give some to his teachers.

I really liked making the worms because they go really fast too.

What a wonderful alternative to the usual Valentines and/or candy!

I tutor a number of third graders at our local elementary school & periodically will bring in various WIP and the patterns - the children are fascinated by how something can be made by following the patterns (which look like gibberish to them).

I bet your son's classmates were fascinated with the bookmarks.

My son's classmates really enjoyed them and are using them. I really thought it would be something nice for them to have to maybe (if they keep them for a long time) reflect back on when they see it and say, 'Hey, I remember getting this in 6th grade...from Johnn".... and maybe they'll remember some really neat things that happened that year.

Me, myself, all I remember about 6th grade is we were finally able to wear pants to school that year. Before that year, we had to wear dresses/skirts all the time. There was not alternative. I really remember this pair of multi-colored striped straight legged denim pants....you know the kind that people wore back in the 60's, early 70's. I really hated them. That's the time when paisley prints were in and the cat eye glass frames were in. You know, the kind that everyone wants to wear today...... OMG, such flash backs.....I'm going to have nightmares tonight...........

Thanks Dawn. The beads were a nice touch. I liked that myself. The Thong bookmarkers were real easy and really quick to make too. I didn't have any beads and I picked them up at Joanne's. They ran about $2-$3 for a bag of about 20+ different sizes. They're fun and quick to make. They're a great change of pace if you're working on a large project too!
