A couple of "Creepy Cute's"

I made 2 of the creatures from "Creepy Cute Crochet" recently for birthday presents. They turned out well, but I ran into problems with both of them! Has anyone made these (or others from the book)? For the ninja, the head tie didn't work so I had to make one up. The spartan's helmet turned out too big so I had to figure out how to make it smaller (reduce stitches).

Awwww...they're both adorable! I HAVE to try out the ninja though. My DD's crush loves ninjas...she may want to win him over with one...lol.
