Entrelac Crochet - Baby Boy Blanket

Recommended Posts

I made this blanket for our friend/neighbor who is due to have her baby boy on December 21st. I use the technique "Entrelac Crochet", which I learned from the book "How to Make Easy Tunisian Crochet Entrelac" by Carolyn Christmas. I love the look of Entrelac crochet and it's fun to make! :hook

The blanket is 27" x 34". I used a K hook and Red Heart Soft Yarn in the colors of Mid Blue, Guacamole, and White.

Wow! The blanket and hats look wonderful. I have the same book but haven't tried anything from it yet. You've inspired me to get that book back out.

I love your color choices they are a nice change from pastels we might use for a baby.

Kelly, your blanket and hats are so wonderful! I love the bright, vibrent colors you chose to use :-). Your set will really stand out in the sea of typically pastel colors :-) :cheer

I'm interested in learning this technique, but it looks like the book is out of print. Phooey! :(

Here is a link to a tutorial for entrelac in the round. If you don't want to do it in the round, just attach your yarn at the beginning of your strip and work rows. HTH! :)

What pattern did you use for the baby hats? I love the ridge of color around the edge, it's a great feature!

I couldn't find the pattern that I used, but it's very similar to this one: http://crochetingcrab.blogspot.com/2009/08/sweet-and-simple-newborn-hat.html I did hdc instead of dc though. Then on Row 15 I changed colors, turned, and crocheted in the front loop only (this row is where I folded up the brim). I turned my work in this round, so after I folded up the brim, the front side of the crochet would be showing. Then I did a row of single crochets of white on the last row.

HTH!

Oh, I see! It doesn't look like a regular "brim" so I thought you somehow added a ridge of a different color. When I enlarged the picture I got a better look. I like the effect! Especially your color choices. :hook
