Need help with a pattern...

JPorter718

Question

I'm making this afghan for my husband and wasn't sure about something that it mentioned... when it says,

"AFGHAN (multiple of 2 + 1 t-ch)"

What does that mean? What do I do for that?

Thanks for all your help, this is the first project I'm doing from a pattern... (so I picked an easy one ~ I hope!) :scratchchin

Jayme, the "multiple of 2 + 1" part is exactly that. Your beginning chain is 129. 128 is the multiple of 2, plus 1 to get you the 129. The "t-ch" stands for 'turning chain'. The 'plus one' is the turning chain. I've not seen it referred to that way in many patterns but that doesn't mean there aren't others written that way.

I love the colors they are using, which ones did you get for it?

Oh I get it... Thanks Julie!

Yeah I decided on the Lion Brand Two-Color Afghan.

Except, I'm using three colors...

I'll still be using the Wheat, but adding Pines Print & Denim.

I'm not sure how I'm going to switch off the colors yet, I'll play it by ear.

I'll definitely let you all know when it's finished!

I'm getting started on it right now

Cool, I can't wait to see it. Give us a picture of it midway through in your blog (or here), ok? I may have to do that one for Rick someday.

this is on my list of to do's. i will also be using 3 colors. for the thin brown stripes i am using a varigated and for the larger brown i will use a dark olive and for the white it will be a dark cranberryish color. it's all the grande chunky by RH

i got it on clearance the other day at WM for 50cents per skein. i counted after putting it all away and came out of that store with 84 skeins and spent only $42. not bad :bow

Wow Rebecca... 84 skeins?

I wish I could bring that much home (especially if it's only .50 a skein) but who knows what hubby would say... he already thinks I have too much... and I'm just starting out!!

Your colors sound beautiful too~can't wait to see yours when you get to it.

I'm using the Lion Brand Wool-Ease and absolutely love the feel of that yarn. This is the first time I've ever worked with wool-ease and it won't be the last. I ordered 13 skeins from hancock fabrics (for this afghan) and it came in today... I love when I get packages~ it's even better when there is yarn inside
