I need help in picking out a color for a doily (more information in post)

I am making (or at least going to try and make) my Mom a pineapple doily. It is 17 3/4" in diameter.

 

I am uncertain if I should use white or off white thread. Her living room furniture is a beige color so is her carpet. Her end tables and coffee table are dark brown with a bit of gold around the edges.

 

Which color would work best white or off white for the doily? I have both colors. I just want to see what you ladies think.

I would say a cream or natural color thread would go well with the gold.

I agree, cream against the dark wood/gold trim.

If it were me, and I had a third choice, I'd also go with cream, being warmer and richer than either white or off-white (which can have a bluish or gray cast). Whichever color you end up choosing, I look forward to seeing your doily when done, Crystal.

I mix 'em both up in a room, so I'm not helping much, er... BUT, what might be cool is, white or natural, to give it a metallic gold edge. Knit crosheen (either from Michaels or Walmart) comes in natural/gold, gold/gold, and white/gold.
