Could you please tell me what a "Picot" stitch is? (the stitch sticking out like a tip in the wings)

Yes, that is what it is. It is usually a chain 4, and then sc in the 4th chain from hook, (which makes a very small loop,) and that is your picot, and then continue on with the row. :hook

I adore this pattern, and it is just perfect as a "little extra" for my sister (who is butterfly mad) for her birthday in September :clap

Thanks for sharing :)

In have a few questions.

1. can someone post a picture of what it looks like after #1

2. When I start #2 and the dc's and tr's where in the 4 ch do I do them in? All in one or 2 in 1 then 3 in the next etc.....

Thanks,

James

I don't have a picture, but it looks like not full circle - you can see it on charted pattern I showed in post #1. It's a scheme, but it looks similar.

Then, in #2 you make all dc's and tr's in ch 4 SPACE, not in exact chain.

WoW! That helped so very much it turned out great. I'll post a picture once I am done with it.

Thank you so much for posting this and the help with the pattern. :o)

Once upon a time... I found a pattern for a 3D butterfly in a Polish magazine "Diana Robótki Extra" 2/2006, BPV Polska Sp. z o.o., www.bpv.pl). After making hundreds of them ;) I started to think how to make the flat one. Finally I created those butterflies that I used for bookmarks. They are different than the original pattern, but I mention the one from the magazine, because it was my inspiration :). I asked the publisher and he agreed that I share the pattern modified by me. So here it is!

For the tassel make a long chain of a few threads, then sew it to the butterfly.

I starch the butterfly and the part of the tassel that is the butterfly’s body. Then I add the bead – it should have the big hole! I also use the hot glue (from the glue – gun) for the bead, so it won’t be missed.

Awesome! What a wonderful item to make for our EMMAUS church events. Thank you so much. Beth
