Crochet is IN this Spring!

I have read no less than three articles this month proclaiming that crochet is IN for the Spring 2010 fashion season.

No, I don't think it's a dying art. Did they do some sort of study a while back and found that crocheters outnumber knitters 3-1?

looks like the mesh pieces are crocheted. nice to see crochet used as a simple fabric with good shaping.

It's neat to see how high-fashion designers use crochet. hopefully it will spark people's interest in doing the craft themselves.

Thanks for finding the links to the photos. I'm a terrible surfer (rather have a hook in my hands than a keyboard!), so I might never have found them.

 

As far as "real people" wearing them, I've always been a plus size, so even if I had the money and the inclination, they'd never be made for me -- and looking at these pics, that seems like a good thing!

I too have noticed this lately and have been wanting to get my hands on some fashionable, lacy, boho kind of patterns. I keep studying the clothes at the shops seeing if I can re-create to some degree >_>

Yay!! This is great -- and thanks for the links to the photos. I've been thinking that interest is on the rise. My local Michaels has more crochet books on the shelf than knitting books right now. Kind of surprised me when I realized that. I live in a college town, and knitting was very popular for several years with college students.
