Pattern/yarn adjustment

Hi!

I want to make this pattern <a href="http://www.interweave.com/knit/interweave_knits/pdf_files/RoundtheCapelet.pdf" target="_new">Interweave capelet</a> but use a yarn that isn't as bulky. The yarn they call for is a 2.5/1", I'm going to use a 4.5/1". I want it to have a lighter look so I'm not going to double it.

 

Obviously that's going to throw the gage off. I'm thinking since it's a fairly repetitive pattern, I can add more chains at the beginning to get the 23" circumference and as long as I do it in the right multiples, the stitches should follow along, there will just be more of them.

So, does multiples of 3 sound right, looking at the 2nd row?

 

For the length, I think I can add rows as I need them.

If so, don't you dare frog it! It's beautiful.

 

Just think of this as an excuse to buy more yarn lol!

yes, that black one... i actually probably have enough of the same yarn to make this one, too...... i just think my friend will enjoy this capelet more than that simple ol shawl.... i can't wait to see yours!!! :camera

Hi ya'll...

 

Just finished a version of interweave caplet with ideas from a poncho in BH gardens creative crochet for the poncho crochet along ...I used a shimmery ribbon 'yarn' and a smaller hook and it came out just fine. I changed the nech and bottom and used BH pattern from the body.

 

If you're using two yarns together, should be just fine but might take more yarn if the yarn is less chunky, I think.:thinking1

 

There's a photo of my caplet with poncho along stuff but not sure of site address right now...maybe someone else can help.

Holly, whatever yarn you want to use should work just fine as long as you have the 21" neck and make it 12" long I think base circumfrence will work itself out.
