Look up tessellating fish (I think) and the whole afghan is made up of fish, I think there is a post on hereabout it. somebody did a baby blanket with it.

I guess a bass fish. My Dad loves to fish like I love to crochet. So for Christmas I wanted to crochet him an afghan with a fish in the center of the afghan.

Found it. It wasn't in her intro thread but in afghans show and tell.

Very nice. She did afghan stitch and cross stitch over it. She got the pattern off the internet. Someone made the pattern for her:

I should have thought to say that if you don't want to applique you can graph it using knit pro:

Find a picture you like, the simpler the better. Save it to your computer. Upload to knitpro and there you go.

You can either do like above and afghan or single crochet then cross stitch over it.

Or you can single crochet and color change as you go working the pattern in your afghan.
