Filet crochet?

I crochet mostly afghans but I wanted to know what you call the crochet that is done when making the family names that people display in frames. It reminds me a little of doilies but it is usually a persons last name. Also can someone tell me where I can find patterns to do a name? I have looked at Michaels Hobby Lobby and Joanns and cant find anything. Thank you!!

That type of crocheting is called filet crochet. You might want to look online at like Amazon and type in filet crochet in the search engine. Sometimes I have a hard time finding filet crochet books in brick and mortar stores...most that I have I've bought online.
