Whoa.....Debbie Macomber Yarn Shop-SALE

I have driven by Debbie Macomber's Yarn Store in Port Orchard, WA, many times on my way home and never taken the time to stop. Boy, today that SALE sign popped out at me! DH was driving and he quickly made a u-turn, parked and said "take your time." Well I looked and petted, and drooled...as inconspicuously as possible...and walked round and round and round......looked at a wonderful collection of knitting and crochet pattern books....admired their beautiful displays and on and on and on....BUT I DIDN'T BUY ANYTHING! Colors, textures, and brands of yarn I've never seen before (....but too pricey for me.... ), a wonderful experience.

As many of you know, when my mom passed away two years ago, I inherited a large stash of her yarn. I have been trying so hard to work my way through it and I was on my way home from given a donation to our Project Linus group that is donating yarn to a woman's correctional facility. The woman are being taught to crochet project linus blankets. I felt really good about sharing mom's yarn, she would have been right there volunteering to teach, even at 95. Tomorrow I'll go through more boxes and bags......just not the right time to add to my stash, but I did so love the petting and seeing new yarns.

Oh I so agree about looking and petting at yarn (I also do fabric the same way!)! It's so much fun to look isn't it? Ideas swirl in your head....I have about 100 projects I'd like to start but so little time to do it!

Your mother sounds like a wonderful woman, and obviously you are following in her footsteps by donating your talent! You should feel very good about that! I love to also donate items I've made, it gives me a warm feeling that is hard to come by these days!

Keep stash busting, good luck with that, and thanks for donating items! You rock!

I've stopped there a few times, very nice stuff!! Did you notice the wooden crochet hooks by the counter? Bamboo and something else.

Allyn has a very cool one right across from the gas station, they have a large table in the back and (knitting) people were chatting, a few crochet books, lots of hanks of yarn. They had a large knit-out in the park not too long ago too.
