My 'Spock Rocks!' afghan

Becks

Recommended Posts

I still have not been to the new Star Trek movie.

I hear it's fabulous and I will be absolutely blown away, (according to my kids and hubby).

Well, until I make that happen, I've been finishing up my Spock afghan.

Yes, it's the original Spock, (Leonard Nimoy).

Here's the back of the afghan.

I used a pumpkin carving stencil from a site called Pink Raygun.

They have free pumpkin stencils for each of the original cast members.

Then I graphed the stencil at microrevolt.

I used a size J cabled afghan hook to crochet it.

The afghan's not very big. About the size of a beach towel.

I was thinking of making the Kirk stencil too and then joining them.

But I'm not sure I like the Kirk at Pink Raygun. I'll have to keep looking around.

The yarns I used are Red Heart yarn in black, Caron One Pounder yarn in white, and Peacock Blue in I Love This Yarn.

Spock's uniform is actually more blue than this.

I wanted to find an 'electric blue' yarn color.

Anybody know of that color in yarn?

Well, now I've got to get out and finally see the new Star Trek.

I hope new-Spock is just as awesome! :)

photojenic, yes it's tunisian crocheted.

It went really easily without much color changing involved because I chose a stencil that was pretty simple. So, although there were lots of ends to weave in to the back, it wasn't nearly as many as I usually have.

Thanks, everyone for your nice comments! :hook

Wow... so amazing!! How do you do that? I remember when Star Trek TV series was being launched.... Leonard Nimoy came to a shoppping center near us in San Diego to help launch it.... I got to see him in person and got his pic.... Took it with my little swinger camera.... Lost the pic over the years..... Now that should tell you how long ago that was...lol!.. GBU!:):)
