making needles more easy to use.

I'm working on a set of 14 inch size ten needles from Boye. They are old and I've had them in my stash about 4-5 years.

The problem is that the yarn does not slide very easy on them. I'm using acrylic and it just doesn't slide.

I was hoping someone would know a trick to make the needles glide through the yarn a bit better.

Thanks.

A little trick I used before I bought my knitpicks was to wash and dry the needles well then take a bit of wax or furniture polish and wipe it on my needles. Be sure to buff them very well after applying the wax. Use only a clear wax or you may transfer color to your yarn. Be sure you buff them very well first before you use them.
