Crochet the Classics?

Recommended Posts

I am not sure how many know about the group http://knittheclassics.blogspot.com/ (Knit the Classics) We read classics novel and try to knit themed classic projects. I thought if anyone was interested we might add to the group a Crochet the classics. We would have our own blog but share the same book forum http://p2.forumforfree.com/knittheclassics.html&sid=378d8aed823e0e15868d0a0ba949ea23. Right now we are reading Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell and in September we will be reading Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro.

If anyone is interested let me know and I can set up the blog and start sending out invatations.

Hi

I would join this CAL. But in September please! Trying to figure out what I'd crochet for Remains of the Day! A doily? fine linen - maybe pillowcase edging? I'll have to think about it.

I would be interested...my only issue might be actually purchasing the books here in Belgium - the number of books in English is a little bit...umm...limited to say the least! :D

I am not a fast crocheter, so its a good thing that I read at the speed of light! A few hours to finish the book and then a whole month to finish the project! :lol

Great to see there is some interest in the group. So would you guys like to have a blog at blogger or would you like to use the forum for project pictures and discussion? The forum is already set up for the book discussion http://p2.forumforfree.com/knittheclassics.html . If you would like to have a blog please email me with your email address so I can send the invitation from blogger. If you guys prefer the forum we will use it and I will make to sure link to in the forum.

If you guys want to join in on the discussion of Wives and Daughters all you need to do is go to the forum and register, it is instant activation.

Happy Crocheting!

Hi All-

So the majority of those who expressed interest in Crochet the Classics wanted a blog. I set one up but I am still working on pattern links. Here is the link to the blog: http://crochettheclassics.blogspot.com/.

You can register at the book forum instantly but I have to have an email address to set you up to post at blogger. My email is at the top of the blog. You have the choice to participate as soon as you want or as late as you want.

Happy Reading and Crocheting!

I went to my local Barnes & Noble to pick up the August book before I headed out of town and they were out! :( It's really a good thing because I would have started reading it before finishing my current book. :P

Ok, I borrowed Wives and Daughters from the Library in Canada, where I live. I was stunned that they had only one copy and that I was on the hold list. I only have one week to read this book!!!:eek So, since I was down in the states visiting my parents, go to the State Fair, have a family reunion, I figured why not go down to Barnes and Nobles and pick up a copy. Luckily for me, that had a few in stock and I had my dh with me, yes he gave me that look again.....he bought it for me. I am already on the 5th chapter and boy, I am so grateful that I didn't live in that time period!!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello - I just joined Crochetville today and posted an intro on the forum - with a URL for pics of some of my doilies..

I LOVE to do crochetalongs - really helps me finish projects (which I sometimes need coaxing on to finish certain items :lol ).

I've never heard of a crochet and read -along....I'd LOVE to do this!

Count me in--

Hi Diana!

I added you to the blog list all you need to do is accept the invite and you will be able to post to the blog. Usually we read the same book but crochet whatever we would like that somehow fits into the book.

Welcome...

I just ordered a used copy of this book from Amazon.com - should have in a couple of days or so.

Do we have a crochet item for this book yet?

Is it too late to join? I am a new member and just found this -- it looks so cool! I am already in 2 of my own book clubs, but the thought of reading, discussing, and crocheting something is almost too much for me!:bounce Please let me know... (I am keeping my fingers crossed...)
