  1. I came across this shawl a couple of times on youtube, and can't find it in history. I think it's a half-circle, or 5-pointed "segment" type shawl. Anyway, each segment has a run of double crochets which increase with each row. The difference is that you don't place your new row of DC's directly into the previous row's DC's, but place them in-between the previous row's DC's instead, something I've rarely seen done before. Has anyone seen/done a pattern like this? The effect was really interesting and unusual. Thanks to everyone in advance. Pup
  2. Hi, I found this beautiful modified virus shawl on YouTube. Having done some other virus shawls in the past, I though this would be a piece of cake...not so. The crocheter has a very thick accent (Russian, I think?), and I'm finding it hard to understand, even with closed captioning. Also the written pattern nomenclature is something I've never seen before, and it's also confusing to me. There is no chart. The main problem is that once I get to row 8, which is the "loopy" row that creates the "base" of the 4-row repeat, the math just doesn't come out. There seem to be 31 doubles into which the pattern has me "fit" single crochets for only 30 doubles, thus leaving one extra. I've been crocheting for well over 30 years, and have yet to find a pattern that can "beat" me! But, there's a first for everything, I guess. I love this pattern, and have found the perfect yarn for it. I'd hate to give up now. I know there are many of you who'd be able to figure this out, and I'd appreciate your help very much. Thanks in advance, PuppyMom Here are the files: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dN3YUD7Mvm4 Youtube http://interunet.com/crochet-shawl Written pattern

    Spice Market Shawl

I loved this shawl as soon as I saw it in Crochet! April 2018. I used the yarn the pattern called for, King Cole Shine. It worked up quickly and I love it.

    Cloud no.9 Shawl

Hi! I am so, so happy with my new shawl :-) I have made it with one ball of Scheepjes Whirl, which is a yarn cake with a very gradual colour change. You can read all about this shawl and the pattern on my blog!
  5. I've been searching and searching, and I'm so frustrated. When I find what I want online, the link doesn't take me anywhere. I need a somewhat utilitarian shawl pattern for my quadriplegic mother. She wears them backwards with the wings tucked behind her back. Most important element is the straight across neckline. It shouldn't be too long around the arms. No elaborate patterns--just basic and easy! Kind of like this shawl, but not fancy--no special fringe--no color change.... Is this too much to ask?! LOL!

    58 dc and 5 ch 1 spaces

Hi, I'm a newbie. My purpose for starting crochet is because my quadriplegic mother is always needing new shawls, and I found a wheelchair shawl pattern, which is a gift from above! I hope to make a lot for many people if I can figure it all out! :-) I'm still working out how to read patterns, and I've come to the above step. I am to double crochet 58, make 5 chains, and what--leave one empty chain? I don't understand the 1 space(s) thing.

    My First Shawl

I just finished this shawl and love it, it works up quick and is a free pattern, if you would like the link I have included it in the post. I use Red Heart Unforgettable in Parrot and it came out beautiful. Triangle Shawl I suggest downloading the Peek a boo shawl pdf 3 of 3 I guess she decided to rename it and it has none of the mistakes of the first two.

    Tunisian Points Scarf

My Tunisian Points pattern is part of the June 2017 issue of knotions. I love textured items. This scarf uses Tunisian Simple Stitch (tss) and Tunisian Reverse Stitch (trs) to create diagonal stripes of texture. The elongated triangle shape wraps comfortably to add a highlight to any outfit it is paired with. There are increases and decreases to shape the piece. The pattern as written uses DK yarn, but could be made with a heavier weight to make it more of a small shawl. I hope you like it, favoritie it on Ravelry and spread the word (both about my pattern and knotions)
  9. Good Day I am translating this shawl into a pattern. I have gotten through the first two rows (from the inside out) but can't identify what the pattern is for the bottom two petals of the flower. I would love your help with this The part that is unclear to me is how the petals attach to the row below.....

    Rainbow Bridge Comfort Shawl

I designed this shawl when the dear boxer of a dear friend died abruptly. Because of the personalizing, I got derailed, and it took me over two years to finish, but now it is ta-done and ready to be packed up and sent off to my friend to remind her of the love her dog Clemmie brought into the world. (You can read more about it here):

    Child 4 granny square poncho

I am trying to find a free pattern or the square size needed to make a poncho for a 5 to 7 year old girl [4 feet tall]. I want to make one to go with a doll size poncho. There is no collar but it does have a drawstring around the neck. Below is the link to the doll size poncho I will be making. Any help would be appreciated. A pm would be great. Molten Lava 2.0 Crochet Shawl

This shawl was an exciting exploration for me. Turning a pretty lace stitch pattern into a top down shaped triangular shawl involves figuring out how to make a single increase on either side and a double increase down the center. My goal was to make it look seamless and effortless, without compromising the beauty of the design. For an edging, I created a larger scale of the 3petal floral motif. Make sure to block each petal separately for a perfectly framed, finished shawl. The shawl has a 4 row repeat that is easy to memorize once you get established. Materials: (1) skein Be So Fine Yarn; 100% bamboo; 650 yards per 4oz; color Parisian Bordeaux. G/6 (4mm) crochet hook Tapestry needle, scissors Optional: 125 4mm crystal beads (shown in Crystal AB)

    Oval Pineapple Shawl

Hi! I am looking for a pattern from a Crochet Today magazine that I have no idea what the date or issue number was. It was in a section titled "Handmade Wedding", and is an oval pineapple shawl worked with Aunt Lydia's Bamboo Crochet Thread, size 3, with an E hook. It was on pages 28-31. I spilled Coke on what I found to be my only copy & it is a mess! Can anyone help?

  20. Hi all, I am new to the site and somewhat new to crocheting as well and have come here for some help after rudely being kicked out of a facebook group for asking for help . I am making an awareness ribbon shawl for my mom for Christmas. I've already picked out the yarn which is a 4 (Medium) and is said to be the same as the Red Heart Super saver that was used in the instructions I am using. I tried my first 5 or 6 rows but found that the awareness ribbons weren't very clear. They looked more like x's. So I went back and read the needed sized hook and found that I got a 3.50mm instead of a 3.75mm hook. I thought I'd just go out and by the next size up but then found out that my yarn calls for a 5mm hook. Do I need to change yarns or hook? And if the hook, what size? Any help is greatly appreciated since my last group experience led me to tears. I can add the link to the pattern if it will help but don't want to break any rules so if someone needs to see it let me know!

  22. When I found this pattern on ravelry I knew I had to make it! Then I was gifted with the pattern by some great Fairy Godmother and here it is! The yarn is sparkling and I love the finish effect. The pattern is "Queen of the Seven Kingdoms" by MADuNaier.
